IMO ASSEMBLY MOVES TO HAVE MAJOR ROADS IN OHAJI/EGBEMA LGA REHABILITATED
Worried that some dilapidated major roads in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area have stalled its speedy development, the Imo State House Of Assembly has urged Governor Hope Uzodimma to come to the rescue of the roads.
This is the outcome of the Plenary activity on Thursday, 09/04/2026.
Presenting the Motion, the Chief Sponsor and Member Representing Ohaji-Egbema State Constituency in the Imo State House Of Assembly, Hon Dr Uzoma Francis Osuoha, explained that poor and dilapidated state of roads in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area have made it impossible for residents, including natives, who are predominantly farmers, traders, teachers and students, etc, to access their farmlands, shops, schools, and as a result the Local Government Area has continued to suffer stunted growth, economically, socially and politically.
Hon Dr Uzoma Francis Osuoha, who is also the House Committee Chairman On ISOPADEC, Oil And Gas, appreciated the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his unwavering commitment in constructing and rehabilitating roads across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state, especially, the recent approval for reconstruction and rehabilitation of Owerri/Port Harcourt road, and most importantly, the reconstruction of Owerri/Okigwe road, Owerri/Mbaise/Obowo road, Owerri/Orlu, Orlu/Mgbe road and many internal roads.
He thereafter called on the State Government to take immediate action to rescue the following major roads in Ohaji-Egbema Local Area :
1. Obinze/Umuokanne/Ilile/Mgbuisii/Umuapu road.
2. Umuagwo/Umukene/Etioha road.
3. Amnesty Junction/Etekwuru/Location Junction/Abaezi road.
4. Opouma/Location Junction road.
In his words, Hon Uzoma Osuoha said, "the poor and dilapidated state of these roads in Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area have made it impossible for residents, including patients, to access and patronize the New General Hospital, the Ohaji Chapter of the Imo State High Court, Nigerian Army Settlement Estate, Farmlands and many Cottage Industries in the area. And as a result, some of these Farms and industries produce below their capacities. Orashi Power Plants will easily be assessed if these mentioned roads are speedily rehabilitated".
The vibrant lawmaker thereafter beckoned on his Honourable Colleagues to lend their voices in support of the Motion.
The Motion which was Seconded by the Member Representing Orsu State Constituency, Hon Engr Uche Francis Agabige, was cosponsored by the following 12 Honourable Members :

Be It Resolved By This Honourable House To Urge The Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, To Urgently Come To The Rescue Of The Above Mentioned Roads In Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area, And To Direct The Ministry Of Works, To Take Immediate Actions To Rehabilitate Them.
The Clerk was directed to communicate the Resolution of the House to His Excellency the Governor.
