MIKANO COMPANY MOUNTS CABINS FOR ISTMA AT DESIGNATED PLACES IN OWERRI
In consolidation of the numerous achievements of the Imo State Traffic Management Authority(ISTMA) under the Ministry of Transport headed by the Honourable Commissioner, Barr. Rex Anunobi has continued to attract attention from both the public and private sector and one of them is Mikano Company.
Recall that last week the leadership of Mikano donated cabins to ISTMA in order to aid their work of traffic management in the state and today has gone ahead to mount them at different strategic locations as the sent their Hiyabu truck.
On ground to inspect the mounting of the cabins is the Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi who expressed his gratitude to Mikano company for their kind gesture which he described as timely especially now that the raining season is here with us as the cabins will serve as a shield from the rain for ISTMA officers.
He further appealed for more support from members of the public as well as the private sector to consolidate on the achievements of his ministry through the creation of ISTMA and to ensure they do not face challenges in the course of carrying out their duties.
The Public Transit Inspector and Coordinator of ISTMA, Hon. Frank Uche Obi who accompanied the Commissioner in his reaction appreciated Mikano company for the cabins and promised that it will be put to good use while appealing for more support for ISTMA officers.
He added that ISTMA officers will continue to do all that is expected of them and to ensure motorists in the state obey traffic laws and lights which has continued to attract commendation from both the public and private sectors especially some notable individuals in the state government which shows that the officers are doing well.

ISTMA MOVES AGAINST MOTORCYCLE OPERATORS WITHIN OWERRI CAPITAL CITY
In a bid to ensure that government directive on the ban of motorcycle popularly known as Okada within Owerri metropolis is not been flouted, the Public Transit Inspector and Coordinator of Imo State Traffic Management Authority(ISTMA), Comr. Frank Uche Obi and the Director of Operations, Mr. Chidi Nwankwo led officers of ISTMA to warn motorcycle operators stay off the roads in the city as defaulters will be punished.
Comr. Nwankwo reminded them that the state government will no longer take it lightly with any Motorcyclist who goes ahead to flout government order as the days of saving grace are over and anyone caught will be made to face the law. He appealed to them to know their boundaries and operate within their limits in order to maintain law and order in the state.
Comr. Frank used the opportunity to address motorists to adhere to the sign post indicating areas where one way parking is allowed and called on them to avoid One way drive as it is illegal and dangerous.
He added that the shared prosperity government of Governor Hope Uzodimma frowns at any act that will sabotage the efforts of the government in restoring sanity on our roads as it is poised to change the ugly narratives and the business as usual style.
Comr. Frank Uche Obi further maintained that the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Transportation under the leadership of the Hon. Commissioner, Barr. Rex Anunobi and ISTMA has yielded positive results so far and expressed his optimism that ISTMA will continue to upload its mandate especially in making sure that traffic laws are obeyed in the state.

ISTMA BEGINS FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF “NO MOTORCYCLE” DIRECTIVE WITHIN THE RESTRICTED AREAS IN THE STATE
Following the directive issued by the state government through the Ministry of Transport, the State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Barr. Rex Anunobi has mandated the Imo State Traffic Management Authority(ISTMA) starting from Tuesday 26th April, 2022 to seize and impound motorcycles otherwise known as Okada operating within the restricted areas particularly the New Owerri, Douglas road, Emmanuel College roundabouts, Okigwe road, Orji axis and Orlu road.
Sequel to this directive, officers of ISTMA led by the Public Transit Inspector, Comrade Frank Uche were on ground in full force to implement and enforce the new order as defaulters were caught and will be facing the mobile court on Thursday 28th April, 2022.
ISTMA uses this medium to inform the general public and operators of motorcycles that they have launched their “Operation No Motorcycle” starting from today and appeal to all concerned to adhere to the directive from the state government or face the wrath of the law.
ISTMA therefore enjoins motorists to continue to obey traffic laws and lights in the state as they are committed to fishing out defaulters as well as operators of illegal motor parks in the state irrespective of the new assignment given to them by the state government.
This is to assure Imolites that ISTMA will continue to serve the purpose of making sure our roads are decongested while motorists continue to obey traffic laws and lights in state as well as working towards achieving the goals of the shared prosperity government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma in the transport sector.

HON. ERIC UWAKWE VISITS ISTMA OFFICE
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Affairs, Hon. Eric Uwakwe has visited the office of the Imo State Traffic Management Authority(ISTMA) where he lauded the efforts of the officers in decongesting roads in Owerri.
Hon. Uwakwe while addressing the officers of ISTMA encouraged them to remain undeterred as the shared prosperity government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma will continue to provide all the necessary assistance for them and praised the Governor the establishment of ISTMA as youths drawn from different wards and local governments in the state have been gainfully employed.
He extolled the Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi for this feat as ISTMA has gone ahead to restore sanity on our roads by making sure motorists obey traffic laws and lights as well as the closure of all illegal motor parks operating within the Owerri capital.
Hon. Eric Uwakwe charged the officers of ISTMA to always ensure they work in line with the code of conduct guiding their work so as not to bring reproach and condemnation to the state government while reminding them the purpose of which the agency was created to make sure that motorists do not run foul of the traffic laws.

ISTMA RECEIVES BRANDED VEHICLE FROM THE COMMISSIONER FOR TRANSPORT
Today, the Honorable Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi has officially handed over the painted vehicle by the state government to the Imo State Traffic Management Authority(ISTMA).
Barr. Rex Anunobi in his short speech, appreciated the state government under the leadership of Gov. Hope Uzodimma for not just approving the establishment of ISTMA but going further to equip them with all that is necessary for them to function and appealed to ISTMA officers to handle the vehicle with care while discharging their duties as well as ensuring that it is used for official purposes.
Receiving the vehicle on behalf of ISTMA, the Public Transit Inspector, Comrade Frank Obi Uche commended the Commissioner for Transport for always seeking out ways to improve the mode of operations of ISTMA and promised him that officers of ISTMA will continue to discharge their duties in line with the code of conduct guiding their activities.
Recall that few weeks ago, the state government had handed over the vehicle to ISTMA through the Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi.

HON. REX ANUNOBI TAKES UP AN INSPECTION TOUR
The Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi today 16-14-2022 Morning embarked on an inspection tour to some of the major roads in Owerri in company of the officers of the Federal Road Safety Corp(FRSC) and Imo State Traffic Management Authority(ISTMA).
Bar. Rex Anunobi while carrying out the inspection enjoined motorists to drive carefully, adhere to the traffic laws and avoid any act that can make them face the mobile court as there is no sacred cow.
He appealed to officers of ISTMA to ensure motorists obey traffic laws, conduct themselves in a professional manner while reminding them that anyone found wanting in any act of misconduct will be penalized.
Hon. Anunobi appreciated the efforts of the shared prosperity government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma in road construction and reconstruction of roads and promised that his Ministry through ISTMA will ensure the roads are free from gridlock to enable motorists reach their destinations on time and safely.
The Commissioner was joined by the Public Transit Inspector, Hon. Frank Uche, the Head of Operations, Hon. Uche and other officers who conducted him round the roads and areas.

ISTMA INTERVENES AS A TRAILER TRUCK LOST ITS BRAKE ALONG WETHERAL/MCC JUNCTION
Imo State Traffic Management Authority(ISTMA) earlier today in what can be described as a quick response has tolled away a trailer truck that lost its break along MCC road although no life was lost.
The timely intervention of ISTMA officers led by the Public Transit Inspector/ Coordinator Comr. Frank Obi Uche and Head of Operations, Mr Chidi Nwankwo averted what could have resulted to a gridlock along the Wetheral/MCC road as there is a free flow of traffic. An intervention that hasn’t been witnessed in the state before.
The Deputy Chief of Staff(Operations), Barr. Sydney Agbor was on ground at the scene to ascertain the magnitude of the accident while he appreciated the prompt efforts of ISTMA officers in making sure that the accident didn’t degenerate into a gridlock.
The Hon. Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi who got the news was not left out as he was on ground to avert further crisis and pleaded with motorists to exercise patience while ISTMA officers tolled the trailer truck away and warned drivers of big trucks to always apply caution when driving especially on busy roads.
In another development, ISTMA has barricaded the Cherubim and MCC junctions and advised motorists in Owerri the state capital to use the UBA road axis while those around Cherubim junction should use the Uratta street road to afford traffic jam.
ISTMA will continue to discharge its duties and ensure that our roads are free from traffic jams while the Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi has continued to encourage ISTMA officers and providing all the necessary assistance in making sure ISTMA work for the greater good of Imolites and in actualizing the visions of the shared prosperity government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
This is to inform the general public that in line with the code of conduct and law guiding the activities of ISTMA and her officers, the following persons have been found guilty of offences bordering on smoking while on duty, extortion, fighting, official misconduct and hereby discharged and relieved of their duties as ISTMA officers.
The discharged/relieved officers are:

ii. Emmanuel Anyanwu
iii. Phono Okafor
Recall that the Hon. Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi had warned earlier that any ISTMA officer found wanting in the course of carrying out his or her duty will be made to face the punishment as stipulated in the law guiding ISTMA.
The Public Transit Inspector/Coordinator ISTMA Comr. Frank Uche uses this medium to warn erring officers and those who may have plans of violating the code of conduct and laws guiding ISTMA to immediately have a rethink or face the same fate like their discharged colleagues.
The general public by this notice are enjoined to be watchful of these men as they no longer work for ISTMA and if seen anywhere parading themselves as officers of ISTMA should without hesitation report them to the nearest police station or ISTMA office,

PRESS RELEASE
IMO TRANSPORT MINISTRY, FRSC TO PARTNER ON TRAINING OF ISTMA STAFF
Imo State Ministry of Transport and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Imo State Command, have agreed to partner effectively in the training of the staff of Imo State Traffic Management Authority (ISTMA).
The agreement was reached on Thursday when the Sector Commander, FRSC, Imo State Command, Corps Commander Adekanye Joshua Oluwafemi, paid a working visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Chief Barr. Rex C. Anunobi, in his office at the State Secretariat, Portharcourt Road, Owerri, Imo State.
Barr. Anunobi disclosed that the Ministry of Transport and the FRSC, Imo State Command, would partner and also work in synergy in the management and control traffic in the State.
The Commissioner further explained that the Shared Prosperity Government of Senator Hope Uzodimma considered expedient and neccessary to revive ISTMA which was established under Law No.14 of 2011 given the need to restore sanity and discipline on Imo roads as well as bequeathing a model and urbanized outlook to Owerri capital city under the Urban Renewal program of the present administration.
Barr. Anunobi further disclosed that the Shared Prosperity Government has declared a 'zero tolerance' to illegal parks in Owerri capital city hence the State owned Imo State Traffic Management Authority (ISTMA) is being equipped to ensure that the menace of illegal park and traffic congestion are permanently cured and addressed once and for all without further delay.
The Commissioner further disclosed that the Driving School Standardization Program (DSSP) which he chairs in Imo State in his capacity as the Commissioner for Transport has been strengthened with the setting up of a technical Committee to checkmate fraud and fake in the issuance of Learner's Permit and reported abuses of the tripartite arrangement that culminate to the issuance of Driver's Licence in Imo State.
Earlier in his presentation, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oluwafemi, said he came to among others ascertain the status of ISTMA from the supervisory Ministry of Transport.
While emphasising on the need for thorough and adequate training of the officers and men of ISTMA, the FRSC boss offered the readiness of his Command to partner with the Ministry of Transport to ensure performance and quality service delivery through training and re-training of ISTMA staff.
He explained that FRSC has much to do with the Ministry of Transport hence the need to strengthen the existing collaboration and synergy.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transport, Bimbola Ogunsanya and Ebere Uzoukwa, the Media/Special Projects Assistant to the Honourable Commissioner were present during the visit.

HON. MACDONALD EBERE VISITS OFFICERS OF IMO STATE TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY(ISTMA)
The State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Macdonald Ebere, PhD has paid a visit to the office of the Imo State Traffic Management Authority(ISTMA) to compliment the officers on the good job they have been doing on the roads in Owerri.
Hon. Macdonald while addressing the officers of ISTMA appreciated their efforts in making sure road users within Owerri are now complying with the traffic laws as well as obeying the traffic lights and complimented the Commissioner for Transport Hon. Rex Anunobi for the ministry’s brain child as it is part of the plan of the 3R government in the Transport sector.
He charged the officers of ISTMA to always ensure they work in line with the code of conduct guiding their work so as not to bring reproach and condemnation to the state government while reminding them the purpose of which the agency was created to make sure that motorists do not run foul of the traffic laws.

ISTMA GETS OPERATIONAL VEHICLE FROM THE STATE GOVERNMENT
In a bid to strengthen and make work easier for the Imo State Traffic Management Authority (ISTMA), the state government under the leadership of Gov. Hope Uzodimma has handed over an operational vehicle to the Hon. Commissioner for Transport, Chief. Barr. Rex C. Anunobi.
The Commissioner has without delay handed over the vehicle to Comr. Frank Uche who is the Public Transit Inspector/Coordinator, Imo State Traffic Authority for operational use by the officers of ISTMA.
Hon. Rex Anunobi used the opportunity to express his gratitude to Gov. Hope Uzodimma for the timely offer of the operational vehicle which he said will go a long way in helping ISTMA officers discharge their duties effectively.
He called on ISTMA officers to handle the vehicle in the most modest manner as it is an official vehicle not to be used for personal engagements and warned them to eschew the thought of it is government property which can be replaced easily if damaged.
Comr. Frank Uche while receiving the operational vehicle appreciated the Commissioner for Transport for his timely support and in making sure that the welfare of ISTMA officers are prioritised especially in providing all the necessary assistance needed. The Honorable Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi has visited the officers of the Imo State Traffic Management Agency(ISTMA) as part of his weekly routine assessment.
Hon. Rex Anunobi while addressing the officers of ISTMA emphasised on the need to adhere to the code of conduct and uphold good behaviour so as not to dent the image of the agency which the state government will not tolerate no matter who is involved.
He made it clear that the mobile court set up by the Ministry of Transport is not only to prosecute traffic offenders but any officer of ISTMA who is found culpable of going against the laws that established ISTMA will be arrested and prosecuted by the court.
The Commissioner used the opportunity to appreciate Gov. Hope Uzodimma for creating employment through the agency as officers of ISTMA were drawn from all the wards and local governments in the state as it shows that the Governor is already changing the narrative of unemployment in the state and encouraged the officers to be mindful of their duties to ensure road users obey traffic laws and lights so as to avoid gridlock in and around Owerri, the state capital.
He added that the law No. 14 of 2011 establishing the Imo State Traffic Management Agency has been there since years of the previous administrations in the state but it took the determination and willpower of the shared prosperity government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma to implement it and today Imolites are benefiting from this goodwill.
