Imo PDP Screens 44 Aspirants, Set For Primaries

The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, screened 44 aspirants ahead of the party's primary elections starting on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

The party has continued to set the pace by ensuring that the processes leading to the emergence of its standard bearers for various elective positions across the State are peaceful, hitch-free and democratic.

According to the officially released timetable, the House of Representatives primaries take place on May 17, while that of the Senate and House of Assembly are slated for 20th and 22nd of May, 2026, respectively.

“We are well on time, adhering to the electoral act and our own constitution. We are equally working hard on all other fronts.” the State Chairman, Hon. Austine Nwachukwu said.

“The PDP is used to election and electoral processes. That's why we are conducting our activities calmly and maturely. Today, the evidence is everywhere that we have forged ahead strongly despite naysaying here and there. We on the right track”

The Chairman expressed his administration's commitment to fair, peaceful and credible selection, insisting that only candidates who are popular among the members of the party will emerge candidates.
