IMO-ANPA FREE MEDICAL MISSION 2026: Ongoing “Stop the Bleed” training to paramilitary agencies who respond to road traffic accidents and emergencies in Imo State.

The Imo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to women’s health with the commencement of free breast cancer screening initiative targeted at women aged 40 years and above.

Representing the First Lady of Imo State and Chairlady of FLAC, Her Excellency, Barr. Chioma Uzodimma, the Honourable Commissioner for Health and Social Services, Dr. Chioma Egu, alongside the Executive Secretary, Imo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Kosilisochukwu Ekenjoku, highlighted the importance of early detection in the fight against breast cancer during the mission.

Dr. Egu emphasized that the initiative includes free mammogram services, clinical breast examination and health talks for eligible women, aimed at encouraging timely diagnosis and reducing the risk of advanced-stage cancer cases.

The screening exercise is being conducted at Lifeway Diagnostics Center by the IMO-ANPA Free Medical Mission, where medical professionals are providing comprehensive care and support to participants.

She urged women across the state to take advantage of the opportunity, noting that early screening remains one of the most effective ways to combat breast cancer and improve survival rates.

The programme forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to enhance access to quality healthcare and promote preventive health practices among residents.

HAPPENING NOW: Free Healthcare Services Ongoing at Imo Specialist Hospital

Free primary healthcare services and surgical procedures are currently underway at the Imo Specialist Hospital, Umuguma as part of the 5-day of the 2026 ANPA–Imo Medical Mission.

The outreach, a collaboration between the Imo State Government and the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA), continues to attract a large number of residents benefiting from free consultations, treatments, and life-changing surgeries.
