Here are some important notes:

Three Levels of Conviction in a Hostile Culture

1. Primary Level: Conviction formed from your immediate surroundings—starting with family, friends, and religious organizations.
2. Secondary Level: A conscious decision to hold firmly to the truth you have received from the primary level.
3. Tertiary Level: Conviction that comes from a personal encounter and ongoing walk with God.

Building a Strong Conviction

Surround yourself with godly people. To develop convictions strong enough to withstand the hostility of this world, you must stay close to those who share and uphold the same godly values.
Expect the world’s hatred. The world will often hate you without cause. In fact, they will dislike you first, then find reasons to justify it. You become a threat simply by living out your values as a child of God.
Know the difference between adapting and compromising. Adapting means adjusting to situations while maintaining your godly standards. Compromising, however, is lowering those standards just to fit into the world’s system.
