As a creative, it's not hard to cultivate a good reading habit.

You just think it's difficult because you've not followed the right strategy.

Before I tell you that one thing you need to do, I want you to know that I understand how it is when you get a book to read, and then get distracted along the way.

Also, I know how disheartening it is carrying books around, yet you are unable to read from it.

This is my candid advice to you.

START SMALL.

As we all know that in our journey to personal growth, we ought to start small so that we can be able to gain capacity in whatever we venture into.

So, I advice you start small.

For Instance; if that book you've been carrying along with you has 12 chapters, why not start with one chapter a day, or read for 30 minutes a day?

Those who read two books and more , didn't start like that. They started small.

So why can't you?

Trust me, when you start small, you'll eventually see yourself reading beyond what you started with.

Do you know that “𝐈𝐧 𝐓đĸđĻ𝐞” and “𝐎𝐧 𝐓đĸđĻ𝐞” are two phrases that are often confused with each other, but have distinct meaning?

𝐎𝐧 𝐓đĸđĻ𝐞: This means arriving at the scheduled time. For instance, when you arrive at the exact time you were supposed to, it clearly means that you are “𝐎𝐧 𝐓đĸđĻ𝐞.”

Also, when you are given a task and you complete it at the supposed deadline, it is also considered as “𝐎𝐧 𝐓đĸđĻ𝐞”

𝐈𝐧 𝐓đĸđĻ𝐞: This implies meeting up on something or a meeting before the scheduled time. Also, when you arrive at an event or meeting before the scheduled time, it's said that you are “𝐈𝐧 𝐓đĸđĻ𝐞.”

When you are “𝐈𝐧 𝐓đĸđĻ𝐞” it implies that you have enough time to spare.

For you to illustrate the difference, use this;

~ I arrived at the hospital on time for my meeting with the doctor (You arrived at the scheduled time.)

~ I submitted my project in time to meet the deadline. (You completed the project before the deadline.)

Know that both phrases relate to time, “𝐎𝐧 𝐓đĸđĻ𝐞” emphasizes punctuality, while “𝐈𝐧 𝐓đĸđĻ𝐞” talks about the idea of completing something before a specific time or deadline.

In our journey to personal development, one of the things we need to work on is stress reduction.

You are not a wood to be working tirelessly without rest. Mind you, I'm not saying that you should be lazy.

Back to my main point.

One thing you should do to reduce stress is READING.

Are you surprised?

So yes, it has been proven that reading can reduce stress.

𝐍𝐮đĻ𝐞đĢ𝐨𝐮đŦ đŦ𝐭𝐮𝐝đĸ𝐞đŦ đĄđšđ¯đž đŦ𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 đĢ𝐞𝐚𝐝đĸ𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐧:

~ 𝐋𝐨𝐰𝐞đĢ 𝐛đĨ𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐩đĢ𝐞đŦđŦ𝐮đĢ𝐞: A 2009 study published in the Social Indicators Research journal found that reading can lower blood pressure and heart rate.

~ 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚đĨ 𝐞đŦ𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞: Reading provides a mental escape, allowing individuals to temporarily forget about their worries.

~ 𝐄đĻ𝐨𝐭đĸ𝐨𝐧𝐚đĨ 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭đĸ𝐨𝐧: Reading can evoke emotions, providing a healthy outlet for processing and managing stress.

If you are reading then you find it hard to understand written symbols that helps communicate a meaning, you find it difficult to learn and enjoy whatever you are reading, then there is a problem.

Now, reading helps you learn new things, It helps improve your vocabulary and comprehension, It reduces stress, It can help you sleep, and It helps prevent cognitive decline.

Therefore, if in this present time you decide not to read, you will be missing a lot that's been stated in the second paragraph.

~ Practice reading regularly.

~ Read aloud.

~ Read with a tutor (I'm available if you need one).

~Take a self-study course,

~ Lastly, Read one chapter a day for a start. With time, you'll be able to read more.
