APPRECIATION TO HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS AND THE NIGERIAN ARMY FOR A SUCCESSFUL MILITARY DIPLOMACY OUTREACH IN ALESA
On behalf of the Alesa Graduates Forum, I wish to express our sincere appreciation to His Royal Highness, King Emperor J.D. Nkpe, the ONE-EH Alesa X, Paramount Ruler of Alesa, for graciously hosting the Nigerian Army delegation on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, during their military diplomacy outreach to Alesa Eleme.
This historic visit—part of the Army’s nationwide community engagement campaign—marked a significant step in strengthening civil-military relations. The warm reception held at the Alesa Town Square reflected the Eleme people's enduring values of peace, unity, and respect for national institutions.

Host Community Retailers Decry Port Harcourt Refinery Shutdown, Warn of Economic Fallout
The Host Community Bulk Petroleum Retailers Association of Port Harcourt Refinery Depot—representing the Eleme and Okrika communities has expressed deep concern over the recent shutdown of the Port Harcourt Refinery by the Federal Government.
During a media briefing, the association's chairman, High Chief Sunny Graham Nkpe, criticized the decision. He warned that although the shutdown is officially scheduled for 30 days to allow for repairs, there are growing fears it could be extended indefinitely. The chairman suggested that the move might be a strategic attempt to create a monopoly in crude oil refining, to the detriment of local stakeholders and the broader economy.
He also condemned the suspension of crude oil supply to the refinery, interpreting it as a possible indication of a permanent closure. The chairman further referenced the challenges faced by Universal Oil Products (UOP), a company that allegedly abandoned its project due to undue interference.
According to him, a prolonged shutdown could result in a sharp increase in petroleum product prices, with far-reaching negative consequences for the economy and the livelihoods of ordinary Nigerians.
Meanwhile, the Alesa Graduates Forum (AGF) has expressed support for High Chief Sunny Graham Nkpe and the Host Community Association (HOSCOM), commending their stance and vigilance in defending the interests of host communities against external interference.
