Calling the Bible a “story book” while claiming to be a Christian is not a harmless choice of words. It reveals a serious misunderstanding of what the Bible is.

Yes, the Bible contains stories but it is not merely a storybook.

It contains history, prophecy, poetry, wisdom, law, doctrine, letters, eyewitness testimony, and above all, the revelation of God and His redemptive plan through Jesus Christ.

The Bible itself says:

All scripture is given by inspiration of God 2 Timothy 3:16

So if the Bible is only a “storybook” to you, then what exactly is the foundation of your Christian faith?

You cannot genuinely claim to follow Christ while reducing the very Scriptures that reveal Christ to the level of fictional entertainment.

Jesus Himself said:

Search the scriptures John 5:39

Not “read the storybook.”

The issue is not whether the Bible contains stories. It does. The issue is whether you understand those accounts as part of God's revealed truth or casually reduce them to human folklore.

A Christian should be careful with the words they use about the book that defines the faith they claim to believe.

You don't have to insult someone to correct them. But sometimes the most loving thing you can do is say plainly:

If you have reduced the Bible to a storybook, perhaps the problem isn't the Bible you may need to reconsider what Christianity actually is.
