NYCN Abia State Chapter Swears In Newly Elected and Appointed LGA Officers (First Batch)
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Abia State Chapter, has officially inaugurated nine newly elected and appointed Local Government Area (LGA) officers following the administration of the oath of office, authorizing them to formally assume leadership responsibilities in their respective LGAs.
The inauguration ceremony took place at Umuahia North Local Government Area and was attended by several distinguished personalities, including the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Ananaba Nwaobilor, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Jane Maxwell Igwe; Managing Director of ABSAA, Hon. Victoria Onwubiko; the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, represented by ACP George Enahoro; SSA on Public Affairs, Hon. Ebere Uzoukwa; Elder Temple Nwaosu; Director of Youth Mobilization, Mrs. Ijeoma Ogbonna; Director of Youth Empowerment, Mr. Chigbu; representatives of the DSS; former State Chairman of NYCN, Amb. Chidiebere Kanu; State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mr. Victor, among others.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, the State Chairman of NYCN, Engr. Smith Sylvanus, reiterated that the council at all levels represents the collective interests of youths through effective leadership and advocacy. He emphasized that as the umbrella body for youths and youth organizations, the council remains committed to ensuring that government policies and programmes are youth-oriented.
According to him, youth development remains a critical aspect of societal growth, and the council is determined to partner with government institutions and other organizations to achieve sustainable economic solutions for young people.
In their goodwill messages shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, Hon. Ananaba Nwaobilor, CP Danladi Isa, Hon. Ebere Uzoukwa, and Elder Temple Nwaosu expressed confidence that the new LGA leadership would usher in a new era for NYCN in the state. They urged the officers to remain committed, disciplined, and law-abiding while upholding the principles and values expected of responsible leaders.
The speakers further highlighted the plans, programmes, and achievements of the administration of Governor Alex Otti, especially those targeted at empowering youths. These include job creation initiatives, technology-driven opportunities such as TechRise, sports talent scouting, and several youth empowerment programmes. They assured the youth leadership of the government’s readiness to collaborate for the advancement of young people across the state.
The newly inaugurated LGA executives were also encouraged to see their appointments as a call to service characterized by sacrifice, honesty, transparency, accountability, and peaceful leadership. According to the dignitaries, such values would not only benefit their various communities but also position them for greater responsibilities in the future.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates of Return, and appointment letters to the coordinators and Executives,of Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area, Ikwuano Local Government Area, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, Bende Local Government Area, Ukwa East Local Government Area, Ohafia Local Government Area, Umuahia South Local Government Area, and Aba North Local Government Area respectively by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development represented by the Permanent Secretary.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and group photographs.
