Highlights from the 2026 Elective Labour Party National Convention, Umuahia, Abia State
Dr. Martins Okey Justice E, SSA to the Governor on Entertainment and Tourism in Abia State and a committed member of the Labour Party, was present at the historic 2026 National Convention held in Umuahia, Abia State.
The Labour Party, a movement deeply rooted in labour ideology, has firmly positioned itself at the forefront of Nigerian politics. The convention drew delegates from across the nation, from the far North to the Niger Delta, the South-West, and the South-East, truly reflecting its national character.
A major highlight of the convention was the emergence of a new National Executive, led by the seasoned technocrat and progressive leader, Senator Nenadi Usman. This development further strengthened confidence in the party’s direction and leadership.
The peaceful, well-organized conduct of the convention sent a clear and powerful message: the Labour Party is not only back but fully re-energized. It is more than a political platform, it is a space where ambition is nurtured, leadership is attainable, and hope is restored.
The convention also reaffirmed a key reality: Abia State remains solidly Labour Party.
The gathering brought together some of the finest political minds in the state, respected figures, grassroots mobilizers, and individuals already making meaningful contributions even before holding public office. They share a common vision: to support Governor Alex Otti in sustaining and expanding the transformation of Abia State.
Governor Alex Otti once again demonstrated exceptional leadership. He managed the entire convention process with calmness, strategic insight, and inclusiveness. Notably, despite Abia being the only state currently governed by the party, he ensured that leadership positions reflected national balance rather than regional concentration.
That singular decision has further repositioned the Labour Party as a truly national platform.
Governor Alex Otti stands out as a visionary leader, committed to unity, growth, and progress.
