The Abia State Government haās commenced the full rolālāout of the Abiaā Connect Caārd, the official cashless payment system foār thā e Greenā Shuttle Bus Service, as part of the deā liberate effortsā of the administratiā on of Hā is Excelleānācy, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti,ā OFR, to modernize public tāranspoārtation and deāliver a seamless commuting experience to Ndi Abia.
This initiative, driven through the Ministry of Transportation, represents another miā lestone in the ongoing transformaātion of critical public infrastāructure under the preāsent administration. It rā einforceās our commitment to buildiā ng a digitalā , transpāareānt, anā d efficiāent transport ecosystem across the State.
The transition to the Abāia Connect Card alāsāo known as the āAbiaā Staāte Cardā, eliminates the iānā conveniences aāssociated with cā ash payments, includāing delāays, disputes over change, and revenā ue leakaā ges. With this innovatiāon, commuters now enjoāy a fast, secure, anād stress-free boarding exāpā erāienceā powerāed by a simple tap system.
We are intentionally moving awāaā y from the haā ssles of cash transactions. With the Abia Connect Carā d, commuting becomes as simple as a siā ngle tapā. Iā t iās efficientā, reliable, and designed to ensurāe thatā our pāublic transpoārt system worksā effectivelyā for evāeryonā e.
To ensurāe a seamlāess transition, thāe process for obtaining and using tā he card has been simplified:

The Ministry of Power and Public Utilities wishes to draw the attention of the public to the false and misleading informations making the rounds on Facebook and other social media platforms, claiming that the Governor of Abia State,His Excellency Dr Alex Otti OFR has procured 1,000 transformers to electrify communities across the state.
The Ministry hereby State categorically that the information is not true and did not originate from Abia State Government or Ministry of power and Public Utilities..
Please note that the Ministry has not at anytime announced or confirmed the procurement of 1,000 transformers as claimed in the publications.
The public is therefore advised to disregard the information in it's entirety as it is false and misleading.

PUBLIC NOTICE: REGULATORY OVERSIGHT MOVE FROM NERC TO ASERA
Dear Valued Customer,
Please be informed that regulatory oversight for APL Electric Company Limited (Aba Power) has officially transitioned from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to the Abia State Electricity Regulatory Agency (ASERA), in line with the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2023. This transition was also made public at an official ceremony in Umuahia, Abia State, on December 24, 2025, when the Chairman of ASERA addressed the public to announce the transition.
With this transition, ASERA has now assumed all regulatory functions previously carried out by NERC, including customer complaint resolutions.
Consequently, the NERC Forum Office in Umuahia has been closed, and the presiding officer handed over the facilities to the Chairman of ASERA.
We advise our esteemed customers to familiarize themselves with the approved customer complaint redress mechanism under ASERA, which outlines a clear, step-by-step process for lodging and escalating complaints.

It was a moment of profound joy and Celebration as the Ministry of Power and Public Utilities and their Agencies, Abia State Water Sewage Corporation, Abia RUWASSA and ASERA organized a surprised Birthday party for Engr Ikechukwu Monday the Hon Commissioner of the Ministry.
Engr Ikechukwu Monday on reaching his office was ushered in by Mammoth crowd of his staff with Trumpet sound and dance flanked around by the Staff of Ministry of Power and Public Utilities, Abia State Water and Sewage Corporation, Abia RUWASSA and ASERA singing praises to God for adding another year to the Hon. Commissioner
Addressing the Staff, Engr Ikechukwu Monday expressed his appreciation to God for blessing him with another wonderful year while thanking the Staff for celebrating his birthday in a grand style.
Engr Monday assured the Staff that 2026 is loaded with activities more than last year and enjoined them to remain committed and dedicated to duty and stressing that the Ministry is rendering essential services to the public that is water which is life and light for illumination noting that hard working Staff will be rewarded this year
Earlier in her remarks, Mrs Nwanyieze Otum the Permanent Secretary said the birthday party was organized to show the Commissioner that his people cherished his leadership quality, visions, dedication and commitment to duty which has taken the Ministry to great heights and prayed for more blessings in his life endeavours.
In their good will messages ,the Chairman ASERA, Mr EMEKA Onyegbule, the AG GM Abia State Water and Sewage Corporation, Engr Felix Okonkwo, GM, Abia RUWASSA Engr Uzo Kalu extolled the sterling qualities of Engr Ikechukwu Monday which has brought unity among the Ministry and it's Agencies and enhanced professionalism and good working environment.
