Breaking News in Abia State!
Governor Dr. Alex Otti, OFR has signed into law the Abia State Centre for the Rehabilitation of Survivors of R**e, Defilement, Domestic Violence, and Human Trafficking Bill 2026.
This milestone was achieved through the collective efforts of the House of Assembly, Her Excellency Mrs. Priscilla Otti, and the tireless advocacy of the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Abia Diaspora Commission, Rev. Amb. Dr. Annie Onu.
This law provides hope, justice, and rehabilitation for survivors, while strengthening Abia’s global image as a state committed to protecting human dignity. Together, at home and abroad, we stand united against gender‑based violence.

She emphasized the importance of improved security, infrastructure, and clear contribution channels to realize this vision.
_Key discussion points included:_
- _Agricultural Development_: Leveraging diaspora connections to attract investors and promote agribusiness growth.
- _Waste Management_: Exploring opportunities for waste-to-energy projects and employment generation.
- _Skills Development_: Collaborating with consultants to train youth in agriculture and related skills.
The meeting highlighted the state's potential for agricultural investment and the commission's role in facilitating diaspora engagement.
