Good day everyone,

But what does it mean to build a brighter future? How can we contribute to it effectively?
Over the course of this lecture, I will explore the key principles and actions that can guide us toward that goal.

*Understanding a Brighter Future:*

• A brighter future is one where: People enjoy better quality of life—health, education, economic opportunity, and safety.

• The environment is preserved and restored, ensuring sustainability.

• Social equity and justice prevail, reducing inequality and empowering marginalized groups.

To create this future, we must address pressing challenges such as climate change, poverty, conflict, and education disparities.

*Sustainability:*

All development must consider environmental impact to preserve resources and ecosystems for future generations.

18th July is ‘Nelson Mandela International Day’ & From 2019–2028 Observed as ‘Nelson Mandela Decade of Peace’
Date : 18 July 2025
When we observe any particular day or decade, take the observance granted, forget why the day has been dedicated and what we are doing about it.
As initiated in 2010, the annual ‘United Nation’s Nelson Mandela International Day’ is being observed on July 18 th 2025. Also Nelson Mandela Peace Summit declared from 2019–2028 as ‘Nelson Mandela Decade of Peace’.
Ongoing armed conflicts and individual crisis in forms of gender gap, racism, etc, are proof of the necessity of understanding the value of declaration of the Nelson Mandela Day and Decade.
The www.un.org/'s clarification of ‘What is Nelson Mandela Day’ is a call of action for each and every individual -
“ Everyone has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better! Mandela Day is an occasion for all to take action and inspire change.”
What is not peace?
- > Spineless and do not have courage to stand against injustice.
- > Misuse of power and portfolio to harm others.
- > Harm others wearing a mask of peace.
- > Fuelling the heat by social injustices like intolerance, provocation, verbal and physical attack, spreading rumors and so on.
Peace is the opposite of all these traits. That’s why Nelson Mandela is remembered as the icon of peace.
To respect the fundamental rights of each and every person the United Nations Organization mentions “Nelson Mandela Rules” is basically about treatment of prisoners.
Nelson Mandela opposed the inhuman attitude and racism of the then so called high society and the government.
Even in today’s modern time, Manipulative governments, bureaucrats and their toe lickers lock up awakened and independent minds and persons. The intention is not only to strangle their voice but also to make ‘fear’ as weapon that others will not follow their path.
At the same time, real offenders are free creatures soaking their hands in juicy rotten honey and maple syrup.
In the present time, killing and threatening of reporters, detention of Aung San Suu Kyi in Myanmar, inhuman genocide in Gaza are just cherry on the cake of the world of injustice.
While celebrating Nelson Mandela Day or Decade, real aim is to enlighten both hypnotic and chicken hearts and minds.
The courageous leader Nelson Mandela had the guts to stand against the mighty governance. 27 years behind bars, he did not break but taught the letter literate but inhuman workers characteristics of decency and professionalism.
Nelson Mandela overcame decades of torture with strength and grace, He became the first coloured President of South Africa.
Drops of water makes a sea. A little character cleansing and one step of action of each individual can bring a sea of change as Nelson Mandela did and that will be true tribute to the warrior and champion of the century.

Instead of just working hard for money, you can make your money work hard for you — this means using smart financial strategies to grow your wealth passively over time. Here’s how:

1. Investing Wisely: Put your money into assets that grow in value or generate income — such as stocks, mutual funds, real estate, or government bonds. These investments can earn you dividends, interest, or capital gains.

2. Compound Interest: When you reinvest your earnings, your money begins to earn money on itself. Over time, this creates a snowball effect — known as compound interest — which can significantly increase your wealth.

3. Create Passive Income Streams: Let your money fund income-generating sources like rental properties, online businesses, dividend-paying stocks, or royalties from creative work. These streams bring in money even when you're not actively working.

4. Save Strategically: Instead of keeping money idle in a regular account, use high-yield savings accounts, fixed deposits, or money market funds to earn more from your savings.

5. Avoid Unnecessary Debt: High-interest debts like credit cards drain your income. Keeping debt under control ensures more of your money stays invested and working for you.

6. Budget and Reinvest Surplus: Track your spending, cut down on waste, and reinvest what you save. Every extra naira or dollar you invest today can grow into much more tomorrow.

7. Educate Yourself Financially: The more you know about money, the better your decisions. Learn about personal finance, investing, and the economy so you can spot opportunities and avoid traps.

In summary, money works best when it’s not just saved but strategically invested, protected, and grown. With discipline, patience, and smart choices, your money can multiply — and eventually give you the freedom to live life on your terms.

"Defending International Law and Human Rights to Deescalate the Israel-Iran Conflict"

The recent escalation of military hostilities between Israel and Iran presents a grave threat to regional and international peace. As civilian populations bear the brunt of these attacks—particularly in densely populated urban areas—the urgent need for a strong, coordinated defence of international law and human rights becomes not just a legal imperative, but a moral one. Upholding these principles is essential to deescalate the conflict, protect civilian lives, and open a path to meaningful diplomatic negotiations.

First and foremost, an immediate ceasefire must be pursued through multilateral diplomacy. The United Nations, along with neutral mediators such as Switzerland or Oman, should facilitate emergency negotiations. Both Israel and Iran must be reminded of their binding obligations under the UN Charter, particularly the prohibition on the use of force except in self-defence. Any military actions must comply with International Humanitarian Law (IHL), including the Geneva Conventions, which require distinction between combatants and civilians, proportionality in the use of force, and precautions to avoid civilian harm.

To ensure accountability and deter further violations, international mechanisms such as the International Criminal Court (ICC) or UN-mandated investigations should be activated to examine any breaches of the laws of war. Independent documentation of civilian casualties and infrastructure destruction can help establish responsibility and strengthen future legal action.

Equally critical is the establishment of humanitarian corridors and unrestricted access for aid organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). These measures are vital to protect vulnerable populations and deliver life-saving assistance. Civilian protection must be the cornerstone of any temporary or long-term truce.

Beyond immediate deescalation, a regional diplomatic framework must be pursued, with the involvement of key regional and global powers to mediate tensions and prevent proxy conflicts. Initiatives focused on arms control, confidence-building, and dialogue must be prioritised. In the longer term, mechanisms for peaceful dispute resolution and mutual recognition should be developed with full integration of human rights protections into any post-conflict political process.

Ultimately, the strongest defence of international law and human rights in this crisis lies in consistent and principled action: holding violators accountable, prioritising civilian lives, and championing diplomacy over war. Only through such an approach can a sustainable and lawful path forward be secured for both Israel, Iran, and the broader region.
