BAYELSA PDP RELEASES CAMPAIGN ACTIVITIES TIMETABLE; PROMISES NON-VIOLENCE, ISSUE-BASED CAMPAIGNS

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State, has released its schedule of campaign activities for the 2027 General Elections, outlining a comprehensive programme of engagements covering statutory party meetings, pre-campaign activities, Senatorial District flag-offs, LGA-to-LGA campaigns and ward-to-ward mobilisation across the 105 wards of the State.

According to the timetable, the Party’s pre-campaign activities will commence with meetings of the State Working Committee, Expanded State Caucus and State Executive Committee from October 26 to 28, 2026, followed by a three-day pre-campaign fasting and prayer/Solemn Assembly from November 5–7. This will be followed by a campaign dedication and thanksgiving service on November 8 and the inauguration of the State Campaign Council on November 9. Senatorial District campaign flag-offs are scheduled for November 17, 19 and 21, while the LGA-to-LGA campaign tour will commence on November 23 and cover all eight Local Government Areas of the State.

The Party said the campaign programme is designed to provide an organised platform for candidates to engage directly with the people, present their programmes and discuss issues affecting their respective constituencies. The PDP stressed that its campaign will be centred on issues, policies, development priorities and the welfare of the people, rather than personal attacks, inflammatory rhetoric or the promotion of violence.

The Bayelsa PDP under the leadership of High Chief (Hon.) Alabh George Turnah MON, Esq., further assured citizens, political parties, candidates and other stakeholders that its campaign activities will be conducted peacefully and responsibly, with due regard for the law, the rights of other participants and the need to preserve the peace and unity of the State. The Party called on its candidates, supporters and campaign officials to demonstrate discipline, tolerance and respect throughout the electoral process, noting that political competition should never become a threat to peaceful coexistence.

The Party also appealed to all political actors and citizens to make the 2027 electoral season an opportunity for constructive democratic engagement, where candidates are judged by their ideas, programmes, records and capacity to address the concerns of the people. The PDP said it remains committed to a campaign that gives Bayelsans the opportunity to listen, ask questions, compare positions and make informed choices based on issues that matter to their lives and communities.

BAYELSA PDP CONGRATULATES NOMINATED CHAIRMANSHIP, COUNCILLORSHIP CANDIDATES FOR 2027 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State, warmly congratulates all the Party’s nominated candidates for the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions in the forthcoming 2027 Bayelsa State Local Government Elections on their emergence through the Party’s consensus nomination process. Their emergence is an important step in the Party’s preparations for the elections.

The Party appreciates all aspirants and stakeholders who participated in the nomination process for their commitment to the Party and urges the newly nominated candidates to regard their emergence as a call to greater responsibility, humility and service.

The Party calls on nominated Candidates to work very hard to mobilize the grassroot ahead of the Local Government elections assuring them that whilst the State Government and the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC) are free to conduct the elections in Government House, the final determination of the validity and outcomes of elections will be determined by the nation's Judiciary.

On this special occasion of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary and the 30th Anniversary of the creation of our dear Bayelsa State, I felicitate with all Nigerians and, most especially, the resilient people of Bayelsa State and the Ijaw Nation.

As we celebrate these milestones, let us remember that the strength of our nation and the greatness of our State lie in the courage, unity and indomitable spirit of our people. The journey may not have been without challenges, but together, with renewed faith and collective determination, we can build a Nigeria and a Bayelsa where every citizen has a greater sense of belonging, dignity and hope.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State, under the leadership of High Chief (Hon.) Alabh George Turnah MON, Esq., warmly congratulates the government and people of Bayelsa State on the 30th anniversary of the creation of the State and joins Nigerians at home and abroad in commemorating the 66th Independence Anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

These historic milestones provide an opportunity to celebrate our journey, honour those who contributed to our development, appreciate the resilience of our people and, more importantly, reflect honestly on the work that remains to be done. Thirty years of Bayelsa and 66 years of Nigeria should inspire not only celebration, but a fresh determination to build societies where governance translates into tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.

For Bayelsa, our anniversary must remind every leader that public office is ultimately a trust and a responsibility to the people. BAYELSA AT 30: WITH TOWER HOTEL PROJECT STILL UNCOMPLETED 22 YEARS AFTER; LAVISH CELEBRATION AMIDST HUNGER, POVERTY, UNEMPLOYMENT, ETC, SHAMEFUL DISPLAY OF INSENSITIVITY

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State, has described the lavish celebration of the State’s 30th anniversary amid prevailing hunger, poverty and unemployment as a shameful display of insensitivity to the plight of ordinary Bayelsans. While the government rolls out elaborate anniversary festivities, many citizens continue to grapple with severe economic hardship and limited opportunities.

The Bayelsa Tower Hotel, which has hung over the heart of Yenagoa for 22 years despite the enormous public resources committed to it, has become a monument of disgrace and ridicule to our dear state. The continued neglect of this and several other abandoned projects under the present administration, while huge sums of the state’s commonwealth are expended on lavish celebrations, is a disturbing indication of misplaced priorities and reckless disregard for the prevailing economic hardship confronting Bayelsans.

At 30, Bayelsa deserves more than pomp and pageantry; it deserves accountability, completed projects, jobs, economic opportunities and a government that prioritises the welfare of its people. The PDP therefore urges the government to reflect on the real condition of Bayelsans and redirect public resources and attention from extravagant celebrations towards addressing the pressing needs of the people.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State, has commenced the payment of monthly allowances to over 2,000 party executives and staff across the ward, local government, senatorial, state, zonal and national structures of the Party, courtesy of the Party Leader, His Excellency, Great Joshua MacIver. The intervention covers officials and support personnel across the Party’s structures in the State and forms part of the financial support earlier announced by the Party leadership.

The development has been received with widespread celebration and appreciation across the Party’s structures, with beneficiaries acknowledging the importance of regular welfare support to party officials and personnel who contribute to the administration and activities of the PDP at various levels. The payment is also in line with the Party’s stated objective of strengthening its structures and improving the welfare of its officials and support staff.

The Bayelsa PDP appreciates Great Joshua MacIver for the intervention and acknowledges the significance of sustained support to the Party’s organisational operations. The Party, under the leadership of High Chief (Hon.) BAYELSA PDP WRITES BYSIEC, NOTIFIES COMMISSION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMANSHIP AND COUNCILLORSHIP PRIMARIES

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State, has formally notified the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC) of its intention to conduct its internal primaries for the nomination of candidates for the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions ahead of the 2027 Bayelsa State Local Government Elections.

In a notification letter dated 28th September 2026 and signed by the State Chairman of the Party, High Chief (Hon.) Alabh George Turnah, MON, Esq., and the State Secretary, Hon. Ato Alfreder Ebibofaye, the PDP stated that its primaries for the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions have been scheduled for Wednesday, 30th September 2026.

According to the Party, the exercise will be conducted in accordance with its Constitution and Guidelines, applicable electoral provisions and relevant rules and guidelines issued by BYSIEC. The Party also formally informed the Commission that it has adopted the consensus mode for the nomination of its candidates for both Chairmanship and Councillorship positions.

The Bayelsa PDP said the notification was part of its commitment to ensuring proper coordination and engagement with the electoral commission and other relevant stakeholders ahead of the local government elections.

The Party further expressed its commitment to a peaceful and orderly nomination process and continued cooperation with BYSIEC throughout the electoral process.

The notification marks the formal commencement of the Bayelsa PDP’s internal nomination process for the selection of its candidates for the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions in the forthcoming 2027 Local Government Elections across the State.
