*MY EASTER MESSAGE AS THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL, NIGERIAN TECHNICAL AID CORPS (NTAC)*

*_A Season of Sacrifice, Hope, and Renewed Dedication to Service_*

As we join the Christian faithful in Nigeria and across the globe to celebrate the joyous occasion of Easter, I extend my warmest felicitations to all staff of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), our esteemed TAC Volunteers serving across the world, and indeed, all Nigerians.

Easter is a profound reminder of the power of selfless sacrifice, unconditional love and the triumph of hope over despair.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ stands as an enduring symbol of renewal, teaching us that through dedication and selflessness, we can overcome the most daunting challenges and birth a better tomorrow.

These virtues of sacrifice and selfless love resonate deeply with the core mandate of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps and our everyday commitment to our country and society at large.

Every day, our gallant Volunteers leave the comfort of their homes to serve in various African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) nations. In doing so,these Volunteers embody the very essence of sacrifice, sharing their skills, knowledge and expertise to uplift our brothers and sisters in recipient countries. These are the true ambassadors of Nigeria’s foreign policy, projecting our nation’s spirit of brotherhood, resilience and goodwill despite the daunting challenges of wherever they serve.

As we commemorate this holy season, I urge all our Volunteers and dedicated staff to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice made for humanity by our Lord Jesus. Let the lessons of Easter inspire us to rededicate ourselves to the service of our fatherland and humanity at large. Let us continue to build bridges of friendship and foster sustainable development wherever we find ourselves.

To our nation, Nigeria, may this Easter usher in a renewed sense of unity, peace and national cohesion. Let us embrace the spirit of forgiveness and work together towards the shared vision of a prosperous and great country, especially now that a new round of electoral activities stares us in the face.

We must resolve to support our leaders to get things right at all times. This is because uneasy lies the head that bears the crown. We can pursue and achieve the foregoing by praying constantly for these leaders and submitting their thoughts and actions to the direction of the Holy Spirit for divine guidance, wisdom and the kind of mindset that entrenches love, equity and sacrifice for the led and for humanity in general.

As we celebrate with our families, friends, and host communities, I pray that the joy, peace, and blessings of Easter fill our hearts and homes.

Happy Easter!

NTAC DG,BUBA YAKUB,CONGRATULATES MUSLIMS ON EID-EL-FITR CELEBRATION
*Says the Occasion Presents Opportunity to Renew Love, Strengthen the Bond of Unity Among Nigerians_

Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps,Rt.Hon.Yusuf Buba Yakub, has described the Eid-El-Fitr celebration as another opportunity for Nigerians to renew love and strengthen the bond of unity among themselves.

In a message to mark the end of the thirty-day Ramadan period and to salute the Muslim Ummah on the celebration of this year's Eid-El-Fitr,which was made available to his media office in Abuja, Thursday, the former federal lawmaker said the entire Nigerian people have through various acts of piety and commitments demonstrated a firm belief that we are one people bound by a common destiny.

While thanking Allah (SWT) for the successful conclusion of the Ramadan fast and the great acts of piety that characterised the period,Buba admonished the faithful to look beyond the period and continue to hold on to the spiritual essence of the exercise to make for a better humanity and a closer walk with Allah, our Creator.

The NTAC boss, who used the occasion to restate his usual call for those celebrating to share whatever they have with their neighbours, also added that such an act of sharing among people in a nation like Nigeria remains one of the truest hallmarks of national cohesion driven by love for one another.

Buba again admonished all Nigerians to avail themselves of the opportunity of this holy month to continue to pray for peace in Nigeria and across the globe. He reminded all compatriots that peaceful co-existence among people remains the bedrock of progress everywhere in the world and urged all to eschew whatever conditions that may likely threaten the peace our nation currently enjoys.

The DG finally prayed that Allah accept the prayers, the devotion and sacrifices of the faithful and return to them benefits of health, strength and wealth at all times.

Eid Mubarak!

And influence comes with time, experience, and consistency.

Youth participation in politics is important — no doubt. But when it comes to the House of Representatives (Green Chamber), we must understand how power and impact really work in Nigeria’s system.

Being a lawmaker is not like being a chairman, governor, or president where you have direct executive control. In the Green Chamber, influence comes through experience, ranking, committee positions, and networks.

A first-term lawmaker spends most of the time learning the system:
• Rules & procedures
• Building alliances
• Understanding how power works

Real impact starts from the second term, and the biggest results come when someone becomes a Principal Officer (Committee Chair, Whip, Majority Leader, Speaker).

So when a lawmaker is doing well and we remove him after one or two term just because we want “someone new,” we are not progressing — we are resetting our growth.

The right question is not:
“Is he young or old?”

The right question is:
👉 “Does he understand the system and is he using it well for our people?”

In 2025, from individual champions in athletics and other sports, to our winning female football and basketball teams as well as the Super Eagles who despite their bronze medal at AFCON2025, captured our hearts, scores of athletes representing Nigeria made our nation proud.

Sports is one of our strongest brands as a nation. It unifies us, breaks all our fault lines, inspires belief, and builds a sense of community that cuts across age, language, ethnicity, religion, and social status.

Over the past year, Nigerian athletes in various disciplines carried our flag with courage and pride across Africa and the world with Nigeria cumulatively winning an unprecedented 373 medals across all sports in 2025. From grassroots competitions to continental and global stages, the evidence is clear that when talent is supported with structure and preparation, Nigeria delivers.

I have therefore approved and directed the relevant ministries of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning and the Budget Office of the Federation for the resetting of sports funding to ensure that henceforth as from the 2026 fiscal year adequate provisions for sporting Infrastructure development, maintenance, sporting activities, programs, events and participation in international competitions are made annually in the national budget, and that all Funds so appropriated are released immediately once the budget is passed and assented to. Nigerian athletes deserve certainty, not excuses.

In addition, allocations for sporting activities currently spread across MDAs will be reviewed, restructured and streamlined, with the savings transferred into a unified funding framework under the National Sports Commission to strengthen domestic programs and international sports participation.

These reforms are anchored on the Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria’s Sports Economy, RHINSE. Sports is our national asset and thus must be administered, managed, and funded in alignment with its special nature.

The future of Nigerian sports will be planned, properly funded, and competitive. We will support our athletes early, prepare them thoroughly, and celebrate them proudly.

Nigeria will continue to win, with pride.
