We are honored to share that the UAE Pavilion and team received 2 awards for our contributions to - a special award on the “Most Educational Experience” and the “Silver Award” for outdoor gardens.
Kind words from our Commissioner General on the ’s recognition:
“Thank you to the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) and the for the tremendous honor and recognition of the UAE. Our pavilion has shared our nation’s sustainability journey and story with The Netherlands over the past six months, showing how our innovators and researchers look to our natural environment for inspiration to co-create solutions for a more sustainable and resilient future for all.
The circular biosaline agriculture system represented in our Salt Water Garden is similar to those used in the UAE, and demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to transitioning to more circular and sustainable systems to build better futures.
Thank you to the BIE, AIPH and the for convening the world for such an important sustainability program these past six months. It has been a true honor for the UAE to contribute to the Floriade, and we thank the Floriade and all participants for this opportunity.
I also extend my deepest congratulations to the UAE Pavilion team that have enthusiastically represented our nation at Expo and in The Netherlands. Thank you for bringing our story to life every day.”

How do we embrace our environments, when we create, make and build? The first thing you see at the UAE Pavilion at Floriade Expo 2022 are the dynamic and intricate walls of our Saltwater Garden. They’re inspired by traditional Emirati sha'bi houses, yet made of fully recyclable plastic. Designed by UAE-based architects Pragma and 3-D printed out of thermoplastic pellets in the Netherlands by Aectual, our Pavilion walls can be shredded and then re-printed into anything else after Floriade!
كيف نحافظ على بيئتنا، عندما نبتكر، ونصنع، ونبني؟ إن أول ما ستشاهده داخل جناح الإمارات في معرض هو الجدران الديناميكية والمشبكة حول حديقة المياه المالحة. وهي مستوحاة من البيوت الشعبية التقليدية لدى دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، ولكنها مصنوعة من البلاستيك القابل لإعادة التدوير بالكامل. تم تصميم جدران جناحنا من قبل مهندسين معماريين من شركة .ap في الإمارات، وقد تمت أعمال الطباعة ثلاثية الأبعاد باستخدام حبيبات البلاستيك الحراري في هولندا بواسطة شركة وبعد انتهاء فعاليات المعرض يمكن إزالة جدران الجناح وإعادة طباعتها واستخدامها لأي غرض آخر!

Did you know quinoa originally came from the mountainous Andean region yet now grows in what many consider a desert, the UAE? Watch the video to hear Sarah, another of our Pavilion ambassadors, tell the story of the quinoa growing in our Saltwater Garden and how it is helping the UAE create reliable food harvests, thanks to the halophyte’s tolerance of dry and salty environments just like ours.

A day of exciting ideas and passion for creating better, together: What a wonderful day we had on September 1st, bringing together architects, artists, and designers from across the UAE and The Netherlands to explore how to create with sustainability and environmental impact in mind.
Our brainstorming workshop led to thought-provoking explorations of ways to honor our natural environments, and opportunities to make impact for collective progress.
Three core insights united our groups’ important discussions: raising awareness of how we engage with our natural environment; placing more importance on sustainability from education to community engagement; and taking the conversation to nature.

كان الأول من سبتمبر يوماً حافلاً ومليئاً بالأفكار، حيث جمعنا المهندسين المعماريين والفنانين والمصممين من الإمارات وهولندا لاستكشاف طرق جديدة تجعل قطاعنا الصناعي أكثر استدامة وصديقاً للبيئة.
أسهمت ورشة العصف الذهني في استكشاف أساليب محفزة للمحافظة على بيئاتنا الطبيعية وتعزيز تأثيرنا الإيجابي. .
ثلاث رؤى أساسية وحدت ورشة العصف الذهني والأفكار: زيادة الوعي بكيفية تفاعلنا مع بيئتنا الطبيعية؛ وإعطاء أهمية أكبر للاستدامة في التعليم والمشاركة المجتمعية؛ وجعل الطبيعة أولويتنا.

We’ve loved meeting the many people we’ve welcomed through the doors of our UAE Pavilion these last 5 months, but this is our final month at Floriade Expo 2022! On October 9th our Pavilion ambassadors will give their final guided tours around the sustainable wonders of our Saltwater Garden. They’re still keen as ever to meet new faces, and share stories, knowledge and inspiration on how all our cities can become greener in future. So don’t be a stranger, come and be our guest!

Ever heard of plants that love salty environments? They’re called halophytes, and Roudha, another of our Pavilion ambassadors, loves to share stories about one in particular, called Salicornia. We nickname it our Desert Superhero, as it thrives in the hot, dry environment of the UAE, and also in our Saltwater Garden in the Netherlands. Watch to learn more from Roudha on how our countries are connected through innovative ways of using Salicornia, from food to fuel.
هل سمعتم يومًا عن نباتات تحب البيئة المالحة؟ والتي تسمى النباتات الملحية. إليكم روضة، إحدى سفراء جناحنا، تستمتع روضة بمشاركة قصصًا حول نبات الساليكورنيا. يُطلق على هذا النوع لقب بطل الصحراء الخارق، حيث ينمو في البيئة الحارة والجافة بدولة الإمارات وكذلك في حديقة المياه المالحة في جناحنا في هولندا. شاهدوا مقطع الفيديو لمعرفة كيف ترتبط الدولتين، من حيث اتباع وسائل مبتكرة لاستخدام الساليكورنيا، من الغذاء إلى الوقود.
