Avocado Fruits: TNF provided avocado seeds to Chepang community members, and now the avocado plants are growing successfully.

Chepang community is now gradually changing their practices. They have started cleaning goat sheds regularly, at least once a week, and providing medicine to goats every three months to prevent internal and external parasites. They are also focusing more on household cleanliness and personal hygiene, including regular handwashing practices.
We hope that these improvements will lead to higher-quality goat production, reduce goat mortality, and increase income from goat rearing. This will greatly support their overall livelihood and income generation.

In the TNF program area, most Chepang households now have Akabare Khursani plants. Some families have started cultivating Akabare Khursani commercially. To motivate and support them, the foundation provides seeds and technical guidance to group members.
We hope that the Chepang community in our project area will save money by not buying Khursani from the market, and that increased production will help them earn income to support their family food needs and children’s education.
We have also observed increased awareness about the importance of kitchen gardens. Households are now trying to establish their own kitchen gardens. We hope they will produce green vegetables and include them regularly in their daily meals. The foundation provides kitchen garden seeds from time to time to support this effort.

Mineral blocks help goats regulate salt intake and replenish trace minerals that are important for digestion, muscle function, and overall balance, nutrients they cannot always obtain from hay alone.
Tara Namaste Foundation trained the Chepang community to make mineral blocks using local resources such as red mud, eggscells, salt, and flour for their animals. After the training, they have started producing the blocks at the household level. However, regular follow-up and motivation are needed to encourage consistent use among the Chepang community.
Although it looks simple and low-cost, mineral blocks are very important for the proper growth and development of goats.
