BIKALPA-Nepal’s campaign is transforming public schools into spaces that are more inclusive, safe, and just—where every child is seen, protected, and given hope to grow with dignity.
At Gaurishankar Basic School, teachers, parents, students, and community members came together with Namaste, flowers, and candlelight, creating a deep feeling of respect, unity, and shared hope.
Through open sharing, stories, and group discussions, everyone realized that children grow not only through lessons in books, but through love, understanding, and care at home, school, and society.
A painful story of a misunderstood child reminded us that punishment creates fear, while love and guidance heal hearts and shape futures.
Parents and teachers sat together like one family, promising to walk hand in hand to nurture children into kind, confident, and responsible human beings.
Here is a short video which capture—it was a moment of connection, healing, and hope for a better school and a brighter future for every child. Thank you !

“A Day of Caring, Listening & Hope”
To help make community schools more inclusive, caring, and just for every child, Ram and Sharada from Bikalpa Nepal facilitated a special workshop at Bishnupaduka Secondary School, Pokhara. For the first time, parents, teachers, and members of the school management committee came together in one place. They shared their concerns, listened to one another, and worked together to find ways to create a better and more welcoming learning environment for all children. This video captures the spirit of that beautiful day.

“Joyful Hearts, Kind Hands”
As part of our goal – My School, Our Pride – we recently had a beautiful activity called “Joyful Hearts, Kind Hands” with primary level children in a public school.
It was a day full of smiles, games, dancing, and laughter. We shared stories, showed kindness, and learned the true meaning of caring for one another.
The joy on the children’s faces made our hearts full. It was a reminder that small acts of love can make a big difference.
Here is a short video that captures the warmth and happiness of that special day. We hope it touches your heart too.

My school- our pride: stopping violence in Schools
Bikalpa Nepal had organized training workshops for teachers, School management Committee members and parents focused on School management and teachers collaboration. The Program was organized Friday 20th December, 2024 and 3rd January, 2025 at Dijyajyoti Basic School, Pokhara-25, Hemja.
The main objectives of the training workshops were observe the school premises and share good practices and things to improve, discuss on how to stop violence at school and home and increase the bond and get to know well between teachers-parents relation.
There were 48 participants including SMC chair, PTA chair, Head teacher, Mother group leaders, Ward Chair and ward members, Well-wishers and so on were participated. It was facilitated by the Lead Trainer/facilitator; Ram Chandra Paudel, the secretary; Sharada Sharma, and Aashim Gurung. Ward chair committed that Ward office will support school for their infrastructure and maintenance of school rooms and ground.
We play non- competitive games to be connected each other. Games also help us to be real ourselves. Schools and other community groups offer spaces for our workshops at no cost. Parents expressed that is their first time they enjoyed and laughed so much.
We have developed 12 different posters. We share and discuss issues using posters. Transforming power components, difference between equality and equity, Community Agreements, How children learn … are some of them.
We recently published a story of a trafficked girl called BIMALI. This story book raises awareness of this huge problem for children, for families and for communities, especially in Nepal. We shared book into our workshop sessions. It helped guide teachers, parents and youth in creative solutions to this serious problem
Next step is document all the information gathered collective those days, prioritized things to improve and make plan of action in a teachers and SMC meeting and request to Ward Office to get their support. Non budgetary and other item of school will find a way to improve with the support of BIKALPA-Nepal team.
