We don't do it for the recognition, but National Volunteer Week is a nice chance to say thank you.
Thank you to our dedicated crew who turn up at all hours, and to the families and employers who support us. We’re also incredibly proud to stand alongside thousands of other volunteer firefighters across the country who keep their own communities safe every single day.

This Pink Shirt Day, take the time to reflect on how you treat and interact with others.
There is no place for bullying anywhere in our communities.

Training night in action 🔥
Our firefighters have been sharpening their height safety skills using the brigade’s roof simulator—practising techniques that keep crews secure while operating at hazardous heights.
In this scenario, the team were tasked to cover the roof with a tarpaulin to keep the weather out and minimise damage to the house's interior.
Ongoing training like this ensures we’re ready to work safely and effectively when it matters most.

International Firefighters’ Day — recognising firefighters around the world, past and present. We’re proud to volunteer our time and skills for our local community.
Thanks to everyone who has served, and everyone who supported them so they could.

Recently, Qualified Firefighter Toru and Firefighter Ben competed in the UFBA's North Island Firefighter Challenge, held in Havelock North. The two competed in both the individual category and as a team in the tandem category.
Described as "The toughest 2 minutes in sport", the challenge involves completing a series of firefighting related tasks while wearing full structural firefighting gear and breathing apparatus. It was a great weekend spent with firefighters from all across the country.
