SEED has once again teamed up with International Child Care to provide a Christmas catalog. In it you will find great gift ideas made by the Mujeres Jireh ladies, other artisans around the world, and great alternative gift ideas like providing an animal for a third world family, providing clean water, and anti-trafficking initiatives. http://seedlivelihood.org/shop/
You can also request a print or digital version of the actual catalog by contacting [email protected]

In a globalized world, almost every Christmas gift we give is connected somehow to people in faraway places. Clothes, electronics, toys — most of what we buy has been made or assembled by workers in another country. ICCM and SEED provide much more personal, beneficial global connections.

This week we sent off a small shipment mostly of new products to SEED. We also sent our very first shipment to a store in Oregon that has agreed to sell some of the ladies' products. Thanks for setting up the contact, Rachel!

Besides visiting the Cusco group, Rose, Rachel, and I were able to consult with each lady who is currently involved in the Mujeres Jireh. We visited the core group in Tarma, a lady in Lima, and two other ladies who met us in Cusco.

This group of ladies makes bags from hand-woven wool dyed with all-natural dyes. We visited them with SEED co-director Rose Brewer and product designer Rachel Peter in February. They showed us the whole fascinating process of how they make their beautiful Andean fabric.
Some of their bags can be purchase at http://seedlivelihood.org/store/peruvian-cusco-bag/ and http://seedlivelihood.org/store/leather-and-woven-bag/
