I LATAC-UK Infrastructure Forum 🇵🇪 🇬🇧 🌎
It is with great enthusiasm that the Embassy of Peru in the United Kingdom participated in the I LATAC-United Kingdom Infrastructure Forum, organised by the British Embassy in Peru (). The event in Lima brought together key leaders from Peru, the UK, and eight Latin American and Caribbean countries.
The forum provided a valuable space to reflect on the impact of infrastructure on regional development, its role in benefiting our societies, and to highlight the close collaboration between Peru and the UK over nearly a decade 🇵🇪🤝🇬🇧.
Thanks to this partnership, schools, hospitals, and high-standard infrastructure projects have been delivered, positively impacting thousands of Peruvians 🏗️🏨.
Together, we remain committed to closing infrastructure gaps and driving sustainable development 💪✨.

Ambassador Ignacio Higueras had the pleasure of welcoming students from LSESU Grimshaw Club for International Relations from the London School of Economics for an engaging exchange on the strong bilateral ties between Peru and the United Kingdom 🇵🇪🇬🇧
The session sparked a lively discussion, with students raising thoughtful questions about today’s global landscape, current challenges, and Peru’s international priorities 🌎🤝
The visit concluded with a viewing of the collective exhibition at the Inca Garcilaso Cultural Centre 🖼️, commemorating the centenary of renowned Peruvian poet Blanca Varela 🎨 ✨.

🎭 Hamlet Around the World: Peruvian talent on stage across the UK 🎭🇵🇪🇬🇧
It was a true pleasure for Ambassador Ignacio Higueras to meet and welcome during their time in the UK, where they shared their powerful and moving production of with audiences across the country.
From their participation at the Edinburgh International Festival (), to performances at the Barbican Centre(), and their time in Brighton, their work resonated deeply, opening spaces for reflection, dialogue, and inclusion.
In the spirit of , recently marked on 21 March, we celebrate the transformative power of the arts to challenge perceptions and amplify voices.
Through their reinterpretation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, eight actors with Down syndrome turned “To be or not to be” into a powerful call against prejudice.
Their extraordinary journey, spanning more than 50 cities across five continents, is now captured in the documentary short , a testament to courage, talent, and the universal language of theatre.
A moving reminder that when stories are shared with honesty, art transcends borders and brings us closer together. ✨

In the framework of , the Embassy of Peru was honoured to host a special panel discussion dedicated to the life and work of Blanca Varela, marking the centenary of her birth. 🇵🇪
Ambassador Ignacio Higueras highlighted Varela’s profound contribution to Latin American literature, noting how her poetry continues to invite reflection, introspection, and a deeper understanding of the human condition.
🎙️The panel featured distinguished speakers Juan Toledo (juantoledo007), Gunter Silva, and Gabriel Núñez del Prado (gabriel.nunezdelprado), who offered a rich and insightful exploration of Varela’s legacy from academic, literary, and artistic perspectives.

Ambassador Ignacio Higueras welcomed students from .latamaffairs.soc and from the University College London () for a conversation on the excellent political, economic, and cultural relations between Peru and the United Kingdom 🇵🇪🇬🇧.
The conversation was followed by students’ insightful questions, related to global challenges, climate change, and new strategies in today’s international landscape 🌎🤝
Afterwards, the group visited the exhibition “Tierra Yerma Partir” by the talented Peruvian artist 🎨

✨Signing of the Joint Declaration of Intent on REDD+ 🌳🇵🇪✨
Peru 🇵🇪 strengthens the protection of Amazon forests with the signing of the Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) on cooperation for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+), with Germany 🇩🇪, Norway 🇳🇴, and the United Kingdom 🇬🇧.
The Peruvian Ministers of , , and signed the document at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, with Foreign Minister Hugo de Zela as witness of honour, alongside the ambassadors of the cooperating countries.
The aim is to promote a sustainable management of forests in the Peruvian Amazon by 2030. This requires coordinated efforts across sectors, regional governments, and indigenous peoples, focusing on sustainable forest management, deforestation-free value chains, and robust monitoring and verification systems 🌱📈.

Within the framework of (19–23 February), we celebrate ’ sixth consecutive participation on this leading international platform.
Together with members of London’s vibrant fashion community, Ambassador Ignacio Higueras recognised Genaro Rivas as a designer who embodies the strength and dynamism of Peru’s creative industries 🇵🇪, where fashion unites creativity, innovation, craftsmanship and cultural identity.
On 22 February, Genaro will present his womenswear runway show ‘A glass to break’ in , once again showcasing Peruvian talent on one of the most influential stages in global fashion.
