πŸ‡΅πŸ‡¬ A BETTER NATION STARTS WITH INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY πŸ‡΅πŸ‡¬

Whether you work for the government or a private company, discipline, punctuality, and accountability are essential to success.

If your working hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:06 PM, with a one-hour lunch break, you are expected to follow those hours. You cannot clock in at 9:00 AM, leave at 3:00 PM, or extend your lunch break beyond the allocated time and still expect the same level of productivity.

You cannot consistently arrive late, neglect your responsibilities, and then blame the government of the day for the problems facing our country.

The truth is simple: a productive nation begins with productive individuals.

Before we blame our leaders, employers, or the government, let us first examine our own attitudes, commitment, and work ethics.

βœ… Be punctual.
βœ… Respect your working hours.
βœ… Take responsibility for your duties.
βœ… Give your employer an honest day's work. βœ… Work with integrity, discipline, and commitment.
βœ… Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

The government has its responsibilities, employers have theirs, and every citizen has a role to play.

We cannot demand accountability from our leaders while refusing to practise accountability in our own workplaces.

If every individual performs their duties effectively, respects time, and takes pride in their work, our organisations will become stronger, our services will improve, and our country will move forward.

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡¬ PAPUA NEW GUINEA NEEDS A CHANGE IN ATTITUDE, NOT JUST A CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP.

Change begins with YOU. Change begins with ME. Change begins with the way we work every day.

Be disciplined. Be accountable. Be productive. Let your work speak for you.

RIGHT PEOPLE IN THE RIGHT POSITIONS PRODUCE GREAT RESULTS

There is a genuine need for proper screening, merit-based recruitment, and professional accountability across government departments. Public positions carry serious responsibilities, and they should be entrusted to people who have the right qualifications, skills, experience, commitment, and integrity to perform the work effectively.

Government is not a place for favouritism, political connections, or simply filling positions. It is a public institution entrusted with serving the people.

When the right people are placed in the right positions, they can deliver better services, manage public resources responsibly, solve problems effectively, and produce results that people can see and feel.

We must strengthen our public institutions by promoting competence, professionalism, accountability, and performance.

Right people. Right positions. Right results.

That is how we can build stronger districts, stronger provinces, and a stronger Papua New Guinea.

A Better Society Begins With You

β€œThe collapse of a society starts with the behaviour of an individual.”

Likewise, the rebuilding of a society also starts with the behaviour of an individual.

If you want a better society, start with yourself. Your character today can influence the generation of tomorrow.

Change does not always begin with big speeches, government policies or wealthy people. Sometimes, it begins with something as simple as waking up early, being disciplined, going to work on time, doing an honest day's work and taking responsibility for your future.

If you are employed β€” work with purpose.

If your working hours are 8:00 AM to 4:06 PM, clock in at 8:00 AM and be ready to work.

Take your allocated break, rest and refresh yourself. But when you are on the clock, give your employer your honest commitment.

Don't spend productive hours doing nothing. Use your working time to:

Solve problems.

Serve customers professionally.

Protect the company's reputation.

Improve your skills.

Find solutions instead of creating excuses.

Increase productivity.

Reduce unnecessary costs.

Help the business make a legitimate profit.

Produce results that you can be proud of.

You are being paid for your time, but your character determines the value you bring during that time.

When you clock in, work.
When it is time for your break, rest.
When it is time to clock out, go home knowing you gave an honest day's effort.

If you are unemployed β€” don't stop being productive.

Unemployment does not mean you must become inactive.

Wake up early. Create something.

If you have access to land, start a garden. Cultivate vegetables. Plant crops. Raise chickens or pigs if you have the opportunity. Produce food in quantities that can be sold.

Don't only plant enough for your household. Think beyond today.

Plant β†’ cultivate β†’ harvest β†’ package β†’ take it to the market β†’ earn income β†’ reinvest β†’ produce more.

Even a small garden can become a small business when you workhard.

β–ͺ︎UNDERSTAND THE ROLE.
β–ͺ︎ASK QUESTIONS.
β–ͺ︎MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS.

A Member of Parliament (MP) is elected to represent the people in the National Parliament.

1. REPRESENT THE PEOPLE
Listen to the concerns, priorities and needs of communities and raise relevant issues through Parliament and government processes.

2. MAKE LAWS
Participate in debates and decisions on laws and national policies that affect Papua New Guineans.

3. SCRUTINISE GOVERNMENT
Take part in parliamentary processes that examine government decisions, spending and the implementation of national programs.

4. ADVOCATE FOR DEVELOPMENT
Help bring legitimate community priorities to the attention of the relevant government agencies and institutions.

5. CONNECT PEOPLE WITH GOVERNMENT SERVICES
Help constituents understand where and how to seek assistance from government departments and public institutions.

6. BE ACCOUNTABLE
Communities have a right to ask what has been promised, what has been delivered, what funds or programs were involved, and what remains outstanding.

AS CITIZENS, ASK QUESTIONS:

β€’What are our community's priorities?
β€’What has been promised to us?
β€’What has actually been delivered?
β€’Where are our roads, bridges, schools and health services?
β€’ How are public resources being used?
β€’What progress has been made, and what remains unfinished?
β€’How will the MP report back to the people?

OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS CITIZENS

Leadership is not only about elections.

It is also about participation, asking questions, understanding government, protecting public resources and holding representatives accountable.

β—‹KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.
β—‹KNOW YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES.
β—‹KNOW THE ROLE OF YOUR MP.

An informed community is better able to participate in democracy and hold public institutions accountable.

Stephen Kuli Titip’s professional journey combines education, law, human-rights work and extensive engagement with communities across Western Highlands Province.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and spent several years working in the field before pursuing further studies in Law. He subsequently graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and is currently practising as a lawyer, with a focus on human-rights matters.

What distinguishes his public profile is his experience travelling through different parts of Western Highlands Province and personally observing the circumstances in which many communities live.

His travels have taken him along roads and footpaths, across bridges and rivers, through villages and communities, and to areas where access to basic services can require significant travel. Through these journeys, he has had opportunities to observe the condition of schools, aid posts, clinics and health centres, as well as the availability of clean drinking water, electricity and transportation.

He has also seen the distances that families and communities may have to travel to access essential services and markets.

This experience gives him a perspective that comes not only from professional qualifications, but also from direct exposure to the everyday realities of communities across the province.

From the Classroom to the Community.

From Accounting to Law.
From Professional Practice to Human Rights.
From the Roads and Villages to Understanding the Province.

On my recent post on transparency and accountability.

The people of Western Highlands Province have a right to know how public funds are being allocated and spent, particularly on critical infrastructure and services such as roads, bridges, hospitals, health facilities, schools, and other development projects.

In the interest of transparency, accountability, and good governance, we respectfully call for detailed financial and project reports to be presented to the people of Western Highlands Province, and Parliament as mentioned by Opposition Leader on Sec.37 of the Constitution.

Such reports will provide clarity on how public funds are being utilized and ensure that development funding is delivering tangible benefits to our Province.

The people deserve timely and accurate information, and we therefore request that these reports be made publicly available so that everyone can understand where and how our money is being spent.
