MAJOR MILESTONE FOR PNG’S TVET SECTOR
The Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) has today marked a significant achievement under the Improved TVET for Employment (iTVET4E) Project with the formal signing of the Technical Support Team (TST) Consulting Services Contract with TAFE Queensland, valued at AUD 9.86 million .
This milestone follows one of the most rigorous and transparent procurement processes undertaken by DHERST to date, fully compliant with Asian Development Bank procurement regulations and national contracting requirements, and cleared by the Office of the State Solicitor .
The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from TAFE Queensland, DHERST, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Australian Government (DFAT)—demonstrating strong development partner confidence in PNG’s TVET reform agenda .
The TST consultancy will play a critical role in strengthening national TVET systems, supporting institutional capacity building, teacher development, curriculum strengthening, and broader TVET reforms across Papua New Guinea.
This achievement reinforces DHERST’s growing capability to manage complex, high-value procurements and deliver value for money outcomes that directly support employment-focused skills development for Papua New Guineans 🇵🇬.
