The Power of Scripture

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.2 Timothy 3:16-17

[16]All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness
Ang lahat ng mga kasulatan na kinasihan ng Dios ay mapapakinabangan din naman sa pagtuturo, sa pagsansala, sa pagsaway, sa ikatututo na nasa katuwiran:
[17]That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Upang ang tao ng Dios ay maging sakdal, tinuruang lubos sa lahat ng mga gawang mabuti.

Beginning our quiet time with God without our Bibles open is like trying to read in the dark—we’ll have only limited, dim understanding instead of the bright illumination of God’s Word. Without the knowledge of Scripture we are not only at a loss about how to pray in agreement with the Holy Spirit, but we are also impaired in our ability to receive God’s response to us.

Someone once said, “When I pray, I speak to God; when I read the Bible, God speaks to me.” We could add, “When I pray Scripture, I pray the words of God!” When God’s Word guides our prayers, they become a lively interchange of speaking and listening.

Do you desire God’s wisdom for decisions? Do you need power to live and walk by the Spirit? Would you like to see God’s intervention in the lives of others? Take your Bible with you into your prayer closet. Through it the Spirit will guide you in how to pray, and he will prepare and equip you for every good thing God wants you to do.

PRAYER :
THANK YOU, LORD, for not leaving us to walk in darkness and for giving us the light of your Word to guide us. Help me to cherish the wonderful gift I have in your holy Scriptures and to receive its teaching and instruction for my life. Guide my prayers through the inspiration of your Word.

John 1: 1-18 Jesus, Light and Life

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. 6 There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.'" 16 From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.

John clearly declared that Jesus is God. He came to earth as a human body, but He was the Son God, who created the world with God the Creator. Furthermore, He is the source of life and God who gave life to all people. But people did not realize that Jesus came to the world. Jesus Christ, who came to the light, came to the world and John the Baptist also preached about this light, but people still lived in darkness and did not accept Jesus as the master of life. Those who discover Jesus as the Light and accept him as the master of life will receive amazing grace unimaginably. It is to possess an outstanding and wonderful power to be a child of God.

Jesus came in the flesh and dwelt among sinners, but he was from the beginning, created heaven and earth, and is the source of life. God from the beginning, the Creator, life, and light, Jesus Christ, is with all who receive.

Jesus came to the world in the true light, but those who did not hear about Jesus, who is the true light, cannot come before him. Is there anyone who does not know Jesus Christ, who came to me by the light? How will you preach to him?
