Turod Elementary School joined the conduct of National Oral Health Month with the theme "Pamilya, Una Kong Dentista: Ngiting 7020",emphasizing the role of families in teaching early and consistent oral care, with a goal of having 20 healthy teeth at age 70. National Oral Health Month is celebrated every month of February. It is a annual campaign dedicated to promote proper hygiene and preventive dental care. This activity was expanded from a week-long event to a month-long celebration on February 24, 2004 under Presidential Proclamation No. 559, led by the Philippine Association and the Department of Health(DOH).
The activity was started through a short discussion by Ms. Kathlyn G. Bajandi, the Wash In Schools(WINS) Coordinator. She discussed the significance of the activity(toothbrushing). This activity will improve public awareness of the vital link between oral health and overall well-being, this month encourages regular dental check-up, brushing, and flossing to prevent diseases like cavities and gum disease while highlighting that oral health affects the ability to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. After the discussion, the SELG President, Kayethlyn Abad,
YES-O President, Ashly Cordero and BKD President, Jayden Billaoac led the toothbrushing activity. They demonstrated the proper way on how to brush their teeth. And reminded their classmates to brush their teeth especially after eating.
