In partnership with DOLE Cagayan Field Office-Region 02 headed by Ms. Laura B. Diciano, PESO Abulug simultaneously conducted several activities yesterday, May 26, 2026 at the Municipal Gymnasium, Libertad, Abulug, Cagayan.

Registration of association to the Department of Labor and Employment, profiling of beneficiaries for possible livelihood assistance, GIP Interns orientation & monitoring of SPES beneficiaries were conducted by personnel from DOLE Cagayan Field Office.

The highlight of the program is the Awarding of Livelihood Kits to the Centro, Abulug Fisherfolks Association, 30 skilled workers & 30 parents/guardians of Child Laborers wherein beneficiaries of the Livelihood program received the equipments they needed in order to start a business. A seminar on Business & Work Improvement Course (BWIC) was also conducted to give insight to the beneficiaries on how to track expenses and income to their respective business/kabuhayan.

Hon. Marie Angelie A. Vargas, Municipal Mayor, also inspired the beneficiaries by sharing her own experience as a businesswoman.

In partnership with Department of Labor and Employment Cagayan Field Office, PESO Abulug initiated Labor Market Information, Employment Coaching and Labor Education to the graduating college students of FL Vargas College, Inc. - Abulug Campus yesterday, May 13, 2026.

Ms. Johanna Jocelyn G. Alan, Senior LEO/PESO Focal Person of DOLE CFO, shared insights about the current Labor Market in the Region giving the much needed information for the graduating students regarding in demand jobs/skills in the locality. She also discussed about Employment Coaching which might be of great help to the students once they started to seek employment once they graduate.

Ms. Gloria M. Alvarado, Senior LEO of DOLE CFO, discussed about the Labor Education which focused on the Basic Rights of Employees such as the prevailing minimum wage in the region, rights of employees to a safe working environment, etc.

The Local Government Unit of Abulug, headed by the Municipal Mayor, Hon. Marie Angelie A. Vargas, through the Public Employment Service Office, together with the Negosyo Center Abulug, in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology Region 2 - Provincial Science and Technology Office Cagayan, successfully conducted the two-day Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Caravan at LGU Grand Lobby & Conference Hall on May 11 to 12, 2026.

On the first day, Training on Calibration of Weighing Balances and Verification of Fuel Dispensing Pumps, & Training on Packaging and Labelling, FDA LTO Registration, Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, Gender and Development, were simultaneously attended by participants from different sectors such as MSMEs, fuel station representatives, LGU Employees; specifically from the Municipal Treasurer's Office, and other stakeholders.

On the second day, Training on Understanding Geologic Hazards, Risks and Sources, its Impact to the People and Community, was also attended by barangay officials, teachers, students and LDRRMO personnel.
