The Local Government Unit of Aglipay formally sought the assistance of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Quirino Provincial Office to strengthen the monitoring of basic commodity prices and promote fair trade practices in the municipality’s public market. This initiative responds to observed price fluctuations of essential goods, aiming to protect consumers and ensure transparency among vendors.

As part of the collaborative effort, the local government, together with DTI representatives and the Price Monitoring Committee, conducted regular price monitoring activities while simultaneously strengthening the implementation of Price Tag Advocacy. Vendors were visited and reminded of the importance of proper price tagging in accordance with existing consumer protection laws. Informational flyers on correct price tag practices were also distributed to reinforce awareness and compliance.

The initiative underscores the importance of visible and accurate price tags to guide consumers in making informed purchasing decisions, while also protecting them from unfair pricing. Monitoring teams also checked the consistency of displayed prices against prevailing suggested retail prices to ensure adherence to fair pricing standards.

Through this combined approach of monitoring and advocacy, the Municipality of Aglipay continues to uphold consumer welfare, promote ethical business practices, and foster a fair and transparent marketplace for both consumers and local entrepreneurs.

In line with the ongoing efforts to extend assistance to distressed and displaced Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office II conducted an Entrepreneurial Development Training (EDT) on 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐥 𝐆𝐲𝐦𝐧𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐬, 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨. The activity aimed to prepare aspiring OFW-entrepreneurs by strengthening their understanding of business fundamentals and financial management as they transition back to their local communities.

Responding to the official invitation, the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 – 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞, provided technical support by deploying resource speakers to discuss key topics essential in starting and sustaining a business. The sessions covered Business Opportunity Identification and Evaluation, guiding participants in assessing market potential and feasibility, as well as Financial Literacy, emphasizing proper budgeting, bookkeeping, and responsible financial decision-making.

Serving as resource speakers were 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫 – 𝐀𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐲 𝐀𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐥 𝐓𝐮𝐳𝐨𝐧 and 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫 – 𝐒𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐲𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐚, who shared practical insights and real-world guidance to help the forty (40) OFW participants from Quirino Province build confidence in pursuing their entrepreneurial goals.

Through strengthened inter-agency collaboration, initiatives such as this continue to open opportunities for OFWs to transform their skills, savings, and experiences gained abroad into sustainable enterprises—contributing not only to their personal growth but also to the economic development of their communities.

The 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞, in partnership with the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐈𝐈, facilitated the Financial Awareness Seminar and Small Business Management Training for returning Overseas Filipino Workers in the Province of Quirino on 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐚𝐭 𝟏:𝟑𝟎 𝐏𝐌. The activity was conducted to enhance the participants’ knowledge in financial management and entrepreneurship as part of their reintegration support.

Serving as resource speakers, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐀𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐥 𝐓𝐮𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐲𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐲 provided discussions on financial literacy, entrepreneurial competencies, business planning, and strategies for starting and sustaining small enterprises. The sessions aimed to equip beneficiaries with practical tools and insights to help them make informed financial decisions and develop viable livelihood opportunities.

Through this initiative, continued efforts are being made to empower returning OFWs by strengthening their capacity to establish sustainable businesses and achieve long-term economic stability within their communities.
