𝐃𝐓𝐈 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

ALABEL, SARANGANI PROVINCE — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Sarangani officially kicked off the 2026 Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) celebration by hosting the Provincial Government of Sarangani’s Flag Raising Ceremony on October 5, 2026, at the Provincial Capitol Compound in Alabel, Sarangani Province.

This year’s CWM carries the theme, “Safe Products, Confident Consumers: Rising Standards for Safer Products and Stronger Consumer Confidence,” highlighting the importance of product safety and quality in protecting consumers and strengthening their confidence in the marketplace.

The ceremony was attended by Provincial Governor Rogelio “Ruel” D. Pacquiao, Vice Governor Danny A. Martinez, Board Member Elmer T. De Peralta, along with provincial officials, department heads, and representatives from various government offices.

CTIDS Babylon F. Maganaka Jr. of DTI Sarangani delivered an inspirational message emphasizing the shared responsibility of government, businesses, and consumers in promoting a safe, fair, and responsible marketplace.

DTI Sarangani also served free coffee and pandesal to attendees as part of the opening activity, providing an opportunity for fellowship among government officials, employees, and stakeholders.

The activity marks the beginning of DTI Sarangani’s month-long observance of Consumer Welfare Month, which aims to strengthen consumer awareness, promote consumer protection, and encourage informed and responsible consumer choices throughout Sarangani.

Through its CWM activities, DTI Sarangani continues to advance its commitment to ensuring that consumers are informed, protected, and empowered, while encouraging businesses to uphold product safety, quality, and compliance with consumer protection laws. END

𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗔𝗹𝘆𝘅 𝗔𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮, aspiring young entrepreneurs based in Alabel, co-founded 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝘀—a passion project they are dedicated to scaling and nurturing into a flourishing enterprise.

Prior to participating in the "𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 – 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝘄𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝘀𝘀" program, the duo had launched their venture but struggled with proper financial and revenue management. They enrolled in the program to gain strategic insights, implement essential operational adjustments, and acquire actionable guidance to elevate their business.

Through the YEP's "Building Business Blueprint" and the Business Model Canvas (BMC), Breanna and Christian mapped out a clear vision for Petals and Crafts. They mastered foundational bookkeeping practices, gaining a firm grasp on managing cash flow, income, and expenditures. By tracking costs systematically, they eliminated unnecessary overhead, built an emergency reserve fund, and reallocated resources toward expanding their craft product lines and entering new markets.

The program's most defining impact was bolstering their confidence as business owners. Armed with actionable insights from the BMC and a deeper comprehension of business operations, Breanna and Christian felt fully equipped to tackle operational challenges.

Ultimately, the experience provided them with fresh perspectives to identify growth opportunities, underscoring how practical guidance and core business training empower youth entrepreneurs to scale their ventures and successfully become their own bosses.
