QUEZON CITY - The Bureau of Fire Protection extends its deepest sympathies to the families of the victims of the fire that occurred at Kennedy Drive, Pleasantview Subdivision, Brgy. Tandang Sora yesterday, August 31, 2023, which resulted in 15 deaths and one injured individual.

Initial findings state that the fire had started at around 5:30 in the morning when most of the victims inside the 3-storey building were asleep. Parked vehicles obstructing the exit may have blocked the escape pathway of victims. Stockpiled textile materials in the area, along with wooden construction on the second floor, are also seen as contributing to the rapid spread of the flames.

While the investigation is ongoing, the BFP assures the public that charges will be filed against accountable individuals on the incident if evidence warrants. The BFP further reminds the public that even with the rainy season, destructive fire is still a real threat in our homes, and utmost vigilance and care is needed to prevent it from happening.
