On April 03, 2026, in remembrance of the crucifixion of Jesus, a day of sorrow, gratitude, and deep faith that reminds Catholics of the price of salvation and the power of love and sacrifice, the faithful servicemen and women of 543rd Engineer Construction Battalion attended the Good Friday Liturgy Mass with profound reverence and solemnity at St. James the Greater Parish church, Allen, Northern Samar.
The sacred service provided an opportunity to reflect on the enduring values of sacrifice, humility, and compassion, principles that resonate deeply in both their spiritual lives and military service. It allowed the personnel to momentarily set aside their operational responsibilities and reconnect with their faith, fostering inner strength and moral clarity.
Immediately following the Mass, the personnel actively participated in the solemn Holy Week procession, demonstrating their unwavering faith and solidarity with the community. Their disciplined presence contributed to the dignity and order of the event as they walked alongside fellow devotees in remembrance of Christโs sacrifices.
This meaningful engagement not only reflected their spiritual devotion beyond the call of duty but also strengthened their bond with the people they serve. In observance of the Lenten Season, the 543rd Engineer Construction Battalion, 53rd Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army, deployed its personnel alongside other uniformed units to ensure public safety, security, and assistance to travelers across key areas. The deployment forms part of a broader inter-agency effort aimed at maintaining peace and order while providing humanitarian support during one of the most solemn periods in the country.
Through coordinated operations and visible presence on the ground, uniformed personnel worked collectively to safeguard communities, manage the influx of travelers, and respond promptly to public needs. This initiative underscores the vital role of the Armed Forces and partner agencies in promoting safety and security, particularly during major national observances.
In support of this activity, Lieutenant Colonel Allan B. Martinez, Acting Commanding Officer of the 543rd Engineer Construction Battalion, emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation and sustained operational readiness. In line with the conduct of graduation ceremonies for School Year 2025โ2026, the 543rd Engineer Construction Battalion, 53rd Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army, actively participated in recognizing the achievements of young learners by sending two of its personnel as Guests of Honor and Speakers in separate elementary schools in Northern Samar.
Staff Sergeant Jerby S. Valdez, Platoon Sergeant, served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the graduation moving up ceremonies at Cabariwan Elementary School, Palapag, Northern Samar, where he delivered an inspiring message to the pupils, emphasizing the importance of education as a cornerstone of a brighter future. In his address, he highlighted the values of discipline, perseverance, and dedication, encouraging graduates to remain steadfast in pursuing their aspirations despite challenges. He underscored that true success lies not in speed, but in resilience and determination.
Meanwhile, Corporal Arben M. Eser, Team leader, graced the graduation rites at Mondragon Elementary School, Mondragon, Northern Samar, as the guest speaker. In his message, he inspired the pupils to dream big and strive for excellence in all their endeavors. He emphasized the importance of hard work, self-discipline, and strong moral values as essential foundations in overcoming obstacles and achieving success, urging the graduates to grow into responsible, goal-oriented, and community-minded individuals.
These engagements reflect the continued commitment of the 543ECB to community engagement and youth development. By actively supporting educational milestones, the unit strengthens its partnership with local communities while inspiring the youth to become productive citizens and future contributors to nation-building.

In line with the observance of National Womenโs Month, Corporal Arjelyn P. Luga, Civil Military Operation NCO, of the 543rd Engineer Construction Battalion, served as the keynote speaker during the 2026 National Womenโs Month Celebration held on 24 March 2026 at the Colab-og Elementary School Quadrangle in Brgy. Colab-og, Victoria, Northern Samar. Anchored on the theme โWE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,โ the activity highlighted the shared responsibility of individuals, communities, and institutions in advancing gender equality. In her address, Cpl Luga emphasized the vital role of women as empowered partners in nation-building, recognizing their invaluable contributions across both military and civilian spheres, and inspiring participants to champion inclusivity and respect in their respective communities.
Further reinforcing the unitโs commitment to Gender and Development (GAD) initiatives, Private Jessa Grace Abaigar, Gender and Development NCO of the unit, was invited as a guest speaker during the 9th Graduation Exercises of Class 2026 at Hinabangan National High School on 30 March 2026. In her message, she encouraged the graduates to pursue their dreams with discipline, perseverance, and a strong sense of purpose. She underscored the importance of equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender, and motivated young women to rise above societal limitations, embrace leadership roles, and actively contribute to national progress.
These meaningful engagements underscore the unitโs proactive role in promoting the core principles of National Womenโs Month through community outreach and youth empowerment. The ceremony was presided over by Lieutenant Colonel Allan B. Martinez, Acting Commanding Officer.
The event formally marked the orderly transition of leadership, signifying the relinquishment and assumption of duties, authority, and responsibilities in accordance with military tradition and protocol.
During the Change of Office, Captain Vladimir S. Mirar formally relinquished his duties as Battalion S1 and Adjutant to First Lieutenant Ephraim M. Boquilon, former Alpha Company Commander.
Subsequently, the Change of Command Ceremony was conducted for Alpha Company and Charlie Company. First Lieutenant Ephraim M. Boquilon and First Lieutenant Dave Vergel A. Gambuta relinquished their posts as Acting Company Commanders of Alpha and Charlie Company, respectively. Captain Vladimir S. Mirar assumed command as Alpha Company Commander, while Captain Rene T. Palma assumed command as Charlie Company Commander.
The ceremony symbolized a smooth and seamless transition of leadership, underscoring the Battalionโs steadfast commitment to maintaining peace, security, and stability in its area of operations.
This activity was conducted in line with the Command directive on the exclusive duties of Construction Company Commanders, ensuring focused leadership, enhanced operational efficiency, and sustained mission accomplishment.
In their messages, First Lieutenant Ephraim M. Boquilon and First Lieutenant Dave Vergel A. Gambuta conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the officers and enlisted personnel whose unwavering support, dedication, and professionalism became the foundation of the unitโs success. They underscored that every achievement was the result of collective effort, discipline, and a shared commitment to mission accomplishment.

On 21 March 2026 the 543rd Engineer Construction Battalion led by Lieutenant Colonel Allan B. Martinez, Acting Commanding Officer of this unit proudly hit the ground running as it joined the Fun Runs organized by the Allen and Victoria National High Schools as part of the celebration of the National Womenโs Month showcasing not only endurance, but a shared commitment to unity, health, and youth empowerment.
Side by side with students, teachers, and community members, our personnel didnโt just run the course, they ran with purpose. Every stride symbolized discipline, teamwork, and the unwavering spirit of service that defines the 543ECB.
More than just a race, this event became a powerful reminder that building a stronger nation goes beyond infrastructure, it starts with healthy, inspired, and united communities.
