Antique Governor Paolo Javier met with the Provincial Health Office, Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital, and the Ateneo School of Governance–Unilab Center for Health Policy to discuss government fund utilization for hospital operations and health programs.

ASOG Unilab consultant Helena Marie Alvior presented findings from the first phase of her study, highlighting underutilized fund sources, gaps in budget monitoring, and strategies for moving forward. These insights will guide the province in strengthening financial management as Governor Javier pushes for his “zero billing” program in Antique’s public hospitals, particularly at ASMGH.

One of the topics discussed was the need for the provincial government to adopt and implement policy changes refining the special procurement of medical supplies in cases of emergencies.

The 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 (𝐔𝐏𝐆𝐄𝐀) will hold its 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲 on June 4, 2026 (Thursday) from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Binirayan Gymnasium, Binirayan Sports Complex, San Jose de Buenavista.

𝐃𝐒𝐖𝐃 🤝 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) paid a courtesy visit to Antique Governor Paolo Javier to introduce Panahon ng Pagkilos: Philippine Community Resilience Project (PCRP) for possible collaboration.

The said project is an initiative of DSWD under its KALAHI-CIDSS program, targeting climate vulnerable communities in the towns of Caluya, Pandan, Tibiao, San Remigio, and Valderrama. The goal is to create climate resilient communities by encouraging their active participation in the planning and implementation of disaster risk prevention measures.

The DSWD team was composed of Darlene Abagat, Social Welfare Officer II from the Office of the Assistant Regional Director for Operations, and the KALAHI-CIDSS LGU area coordinating teams. They were joined by the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development, headed by Dr. Lazaro Petinglay.

Per their discussions, a memorandum of agreement (MOA) will be drafted to formalize the partnership and outline the roles and responsibilities of each party in implementing the PCRP in Antique.

𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐋 – More patients in Antique are expected to benefit from lifesaving hemodialysis treatments beginning in 2027 through a proposed expansion of the province’s existing dialysis center in San Jose de Buenavista and the establishment of a new facility in Sibalom.

The Provincial Government of Antique is exploring a partnership with the private sector to renovate an entire floor of the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH) and convert it into a new dialysis center with additional treatment chairs.

“Sa ngayon, kulang ang ating mga upuan (treatment chairs) sa dialysis center sa ASMGH. Iilan din doon luma na at sa susunod kinakailangan nang palitan,” explained Governor Paolo Javier.

The proposal was presented by Iloilo-based medical supplier, Josmef Medical Corporation, during a meeting with Governor Javier and the hospital chiefs of Antique on Tuesday at the New Capitol.

Josmef Medical Corporation has operated 12 treatment chairs at ASMGH since 2022 under its contract with the provincial government. Under the new proposal, the company plans to add 8 more chairs to further expand the hospital’s dialysis capacity.

Josmef Medical Corporation will also shoulder the construction cost of a new dialysis treatment center at the Ramon Maza, Sr. Memorial District Hospital (RMSMDH) in Sibalom.

The new facility is expected to help decongest the growing number of patients receiving treatment at ASMGH while improving access to dialysis services for residents in central and southern Antique.

“Yung ilan nasa Iloilo na lang nagpapa-dialysis dahil wala nang slot sa ASMGH at sa Culasi. We are improving our hospital services here in Antique para di na nila kailangang bumiyahe sa malayo para lang magpagamot,” said the governor.

At present, the ASMGH Dialysis Center operates 17 treatment chairs, including five units provided by the Department of Health (DOH). The facility caters to around 150 patients who require up to three dialysis sessions per week, translating to a demand of approximately 450 treatments weekly.

However, the center can only accommodate only about 306 to 408 dialysis sessions per week, leaving a shortfall of 42 to 144 treatment slots.

Meanwhile, the new RMSMDH facility will add 12 treatment chairs, bringing the province’s total dialysis capacity to 32 chairs.

The expansion is projected to increase the province’s maximum treatment capacity to as many as 576 sessions per week, significantly improving access to life-saving treatment for hemodialysis patients across Antique.

Adding to Antique’s growing list of achievers, dance partners 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘇 and 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 also brought honor to the province after winning the 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹 in 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 (𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆).
