Ang rice straw at iba pang crop residues ay mahalagang agricultural biomass na maaaring gamitin bilang organic soil amendment, composting material, at karagdagang mapagkukunan ng sustansya para sa lupa.
Sa halip na sunugin, isulong natin ang mas episyente at sustenableng pamamahala ng crop residues upang makatulong sa pagpapabuti ng soil health, pagbawas ng greenhouse gas emissions, at pagpapanatili ng produktibong sakahan.
Sa sama-samang pangangalaga sa lupa at kapaligiran, masisiguro natin ang ligtas, matatag, at sustenableng produksyon ng pagkain para sa susunod na henerasyon.

The Negros Occidental - Office of the Provincial Agriculturist congratulates the 30 farmers who successfully completed the Philippine Good Agricultural Practices (PHILGAP) Training hosted by LGU-Hinigaran Municipal Agriculture Office-Hinigaran and Hill Spring Integrated Farm at Brgy. Candumarao, Hinigaran on May 19-20, 2026.
During the two-day training, Provincial Focal Person for PHILGAP and High Valued Vegetables (HVC) Sir Sammy Bongo discussed the four (4) PHILGAP modules and the 16 principles to avoid the three (3) major contaminations (physical, chemical, and microbial) in managing a farm.
PhilGAP is a voluntary certification program spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) to ensure that agricultural products (food and non-food) are grown, harvested, and handled safely and sustainably. *
