How the Scam Works
The Hook: You receive a text message appearing to be from "LTO" regarding a traffic violation.

The Trap: The message contains a link to a website that looks almost identical to the official portal.

The Risk: These sites are designed to steal your personal information and login credentials.

How to Stay Safe
Verify the URL: The only official LTO portal is https://portal.lto.gov.ph.

Check First: If you receive a notice, do not click the link in the SMS. Instead, manually type the official address into your browser, log in, and check your status under the "Violations" section.

Visual Cue: The genuine LTO portal is predominantly blue and follows secure web protocols.

Pro Tip: Government agencies in the Philippines will rarely ask for sensitive payments or personal details via a direct link sent through a standard SMS.
