I gladly joined fellow senior citizens in celebrating Elderly Filipino Week 2026 on October 5 at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Cultural and Sports Center, with the theme, โNakatatandang Filipino: May Halaga at Karapatan, May Boses at Ambag sa Bayan.โ
In my message, I emphasized that our senior citizens are not simply recipients of care, but pillars of wisdom, dignity, and continuing contribution to our community. I also highlighted the importance of ensuring that our senior citizens receive support and services not just during celebrations, but throughout the year.
The celebration brought together our senior citizens from the different zones of Badoc through the Walk for Life, Flag Raising Ceremony, free medical and dental check-ups, socialization activities, talent presentations, and the coronation of our Elderly Golden King and Queen.
I extend my appreciation to Maโam Lavina P. Laforga, Head of the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs, together with the officers and members of FSCAP Inc. Badoc Chapter, led by Mr. Virgilio P. Rodriguez, for organizing this meaningful celebration for our senior citizens.
Congratulations to our newly crowned Elderly Golden King, Mr. Edgar Rioveros, and Elderly Golden Queen, Ms. Veronica Magbaleta, together with their Royal Court. Congratulations as well to all our senior citizens who participated and made this celebration meaningful and memorable.
We also honored our four centenarians: Leonora Torralba, 101, of Brgy. Paltit; Justina Luna, 101, of Brgy. Bato; Isabel Gamatero, 100, of Brgy. Nagrebcan; and Adriana Talub, 100, of Brgy. Pagsanahan Norte.
