TREATMENT BEGINS. Barely a month after its opening, the Hemoserve Dialysis Center at the Bago City Hospital has started providing accessible dialysis services to Bagonhons and other patients from nearby localities.

Jet Gabriel Pili, operations manager of Hemoserve Dialysis Center in an interview this morning, March 11, said the first batch of seven dialysis patients have started their treatment this week.

They form part of at least 70 patients enlisted at the center as of today. Of the figure, about 60 patients are from Bago City.

Pili said the center currently has 12 existing dialysis machines and seven nurses.

“We are expecting an additional three machines, and we need more experienced nurses to cater to more dialysis patients,” he added.

Sixty-three-year-old Juvy Pajaro, of Barangay Napoles, who is among the first batch of patients treated at the facility, thanked the local government led by Mayora Mayette Javellana for allowing them to receive treatment within the city.

“Two years na ko nga gina-dialysis kag kabudlay gid sa amon sang una kay sa Bacolod pa kami nagakadto. Subong, mas mahapos kag tawhay kay diri nalang sa Bago,” he said, adding that “maayo man ang pag-atipan sa amon diri.”

Another patient, Lo**ta Tolones, 69, of the nearby San Enrique town, is also grateful that the dialysis treatment she has been receiving from a facility in Bacolod City for two years already can now be availed in Bago City.

Dialysis patients are receiving treatment two to three times a week. The services are free as long as they are PhilHealth covered.

On Monday, March 9, Councilor Leonilo del Carmen visited the center to ensure that necessary services are given to the patients.
