National government agencies, local resources institutes, and civil society organizations have joined forces to support the overall development of the region's local government units through the official establishment of the Cordillera Council of Good Local Governance (CCGLG).
Through a ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) during the Cordillera 35th Local Government Month Celebration, the heads of offices and representatives of the 29 member-strong council have affirmed their commitment to become our LGUs' partners in our collective pursuit of responsive and people-centered governance.
Chaired by the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Cordillera (DILG-CAR), under the leadership of Regional Director Atty. Anthony C. Nuyda, CESO III, the CCGLG shall serve as the primary regional policy advisory and coordinating body for the implementation and assessment of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
The CCGLG features Specialized Technical Working Groups (TWGs) that shall oversee the ten key governance areas such as Financial Administration and Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection and Sensitivity; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Business-friendliness and Competitiveness, Environmental Management, among others.
This multistakeholder partnership also seeks to drive a harmonized approach to capacity building where the LGUs' performance on the pre-determined indicators shall be translated into targeted intervention packages.
In a statement, DILG-CAR RD Nuyda expressed his appreciation to the member-agencies for their commitment to be part of the CCGLG. He said that this is a significant step towards unifying efforts at all fronts to achieve the region's goal of institutionalizing good local governance that translates into genuine growth and development for all.
This alliance is a testament to the region's unwavering commitment to inculcating the values of accountability, transparency, and participation in local governance that effects compelling and transformative change at the grassroots level.
