🌴 SUCCESSFUL CONDUCT OF MOBILE HEALTH SERVICE IN NORTHWESTERN LEYTE AND BILIRAN

The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Region VIII successfully conducted its Mobile Health Service (MHS), bringing essential healthcare services closer to registered coconut farmers and their qualified dependents in communities across Northwestern Leyte and Biliran. In Baybay City, Leyte, the activity reached the communities of Villa Solidaridad, Mailhi, Kambonggan, Kabatuan, Higulo-an, and Altavista, while in Maripipi, Biliran, beneficiaries from Binalayan East, Binalayan West, Casibang, and Ermita were also served.

The activity was led by PCA Region VIII Regional Manager III Atty. Marlon M. Terrado, in coordination with the PCA Northwestern Leyte and Biliran Provincial Office, headed by Acting Division Chief I Engr. Nita A. Babalcon. The successful implementation of the MHS was made possible through the dedicated efforts and active participation of all Coconut Development Officers (CDOs), together with the support of local government units, barangay officials, health workers, and the participating communities.

Through this initiative, PCA continues to bring healthcare assistance closer to coconut farmers and their families, ensuring that essential services reach the communities that need them.

PCA Region VIII remains committed to promoting the welfare of coconut farmers and strengthening its support to coconut-farming communities throughout Eastern Visayas. 🌴💚

HEADS UP, ASPIRING COSCHO SCHOLARS!📣

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) have signed a Joint Memorandum Circular revising the implementing guidelines of the Scholarship Program for Coconut Farmers and Their Families (CoScho), introducing a more efficient and responsive system for selecting scholars and delivering assistance to qualified beneficiaries.

For Academic Year 2026–2027, the program will offer a total of 10,789 scholarship slots nationwide, including 6,824 new beneficiaries and 3,965 continuing scholars.

The CoScho Program supports qualified coconut farmers and their dependents in pursuing undergraduate studies, particularly in agriculture, agricultural engineering, agribusiness management, agricultural economics, and other programs identified by the PCA.

Through this initiative, the government hopes to help develop future professionals who can contribute to the growth, modernization, and sustainability of the Philippine coconut industry.

Qualified scholars may receive educational assistance and other forms of support under the program, while scholar-graduates are encouraged to give back through a return service component that promotes innovation and community development in coconut-growing areas.

For many Filipino families, this scholarship represents more than financial assistance. It is an opportunity to access higher education, break barriers brought about by economic hardship, and create better opportunities for future generations.
