Baybay City has once again made its people proud after being named one of the Top 10 awardees of the 2025 Walang Gutom Awards. The recognition was given by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Galing Pook Foundation for the cityโs outstanding efforts in promoting food security and helping communities become more resilient. This achievement shows the cityโs strong commitment to improving the lives of Baybayanons through meaningful and sustainable programs.
During the final presentation and deliberation held on May 11, Mayor Boying Cari proudly shared the success of Baybay Cityโs Food Resiliency Program. The program focuses on helping families have better access to food, improving nutrition, and creating livelihood opportunities for local residents. Baybay City stood out among 20 finalists because of its practical and community-based initiatives that continue to benefit many people across the city.
One of the strengths of the Food Resiliency Program is its support for local farmers and small communities. Through different projects such as urban gardening, nutrition programs, and livelihood assistance, the city has helped many families become more self-sufficient. These efforts not only address hunger but also encourage long-term growth and sustainability for the community.
The recognition also became a proud moment for Eastern Visayas as the municipalities of Palompon and Arteche were also included among the Top 10 awardees. Their achievements highlight the regionโs dedication to creating programs that truly make a difference in the lives of their people.
This award is a reflection of the teamwork and dedication of the local government, partner organizations, farmers, and the people of Baybay City. Their combined efforts continue to build a stronger, more food-secure, and resilient community. With this recognition, Baybay City hopes to inspire more programs that will continue to uplift and support every Baybayanon.

The City Government of Baybay held a busy and productive service day at the Baybay City Hall on April 28, 2026, as it distributed farm inputs and machinery to local vegetable farmers. Officials organized the activity to directly support agricultural communities and improve farm productivity.
The distribution benefited members of the Vegetable Farmers Association from Barangay Sapa, Sta. Cruz, and Guadalupe. Farmers received essential tools and inputs that they can use to improve their vegetable production and strengthen their livelihoods.
Mayor Jose Carlos L. Cari, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, and the City Agriculture Office attended the event. They personally oversaw the distribution and engaged with farmers during the program.
City officials said they designed the initiative to strengthen the agriculture sector in Baybay. They emphasized that local farmers play a key role in food supply and economic stability in the city.
The City Government of Baybay reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting farmers through similar programs. It also encouraged stronger partnerships to help Baybayanons improve agricultural output and long-term food security.
