Coronation of the 1st ever Solo Parent Queen 2026 in celebration of Solo Parents Week

The CSWD Office joins the nation in celebrating Solo Parents Week this April 13-18, 2026 with this year's theme "Hindi ka Nag Iisa sa iyong Pag Iisa: Yakap at Kalinga para sa Solo Parent".

A Seminar on Mental Health Awareness and Su***de Prevention was conducted earlier today April 13, 2026 @ 9:00 AM held at the Women and Children Crisis Center as Kick-off activity of the week-long celebration. The presence of Ms. Irene Rebucas, RN imparting her knowledge and expertise as Resource Speaker who is the Incharge of the Mental Health Program of the city had given a very relevant and vital information to Solo Parents who face so many challenges and experienced silent battles for the sake of their unconditional love and care for their children and families.

The City of Baybay joins the 2025 National Celebration of the Elderly Filipino Week held earlier today, October 24, 2025, at the Binaybayon Convention Center. The event was made possible the efforts of the Local Government Unit, spearheaded by the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, in collaboration with the Federation of Senior Citizen Association of Baybay.

The celebration was well-attended by representatives from the 92 barangay senior citizen’s association. Present during the event were Vice Mayor Hon. Ernesto Butawan, Hon. Romulo Alcala, Hon. Ike Arradaza and Hon. Carmen L. Cari and the CSWD officer Manuel Icon P. Donaire. Gracing the occasion as well were Regional Director IV of the NCSC Regional Office VIII, Mr. Antonio R. Dolaota, together with Ms. Gina Ugay, Chief of the Division Office.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Baybay City and Visayas State University (VSU), is conducting a three-day Financial Literacy and Management Training.

𝐏𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬.

Out of the 14,000 senior citizens in the city, a total of 4,689 qualified beneficiaries received their social pension under the program. Each beneficiary received a total of ₱6,000, covering the months of January to June (₱1,000 per month).

This is a national government program implemented through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), with the payout facilitated by the City Government.

It is important to note that the Social Pension Program specifically targets senior citizens who are frail, indigent, have no regular source of income, and lack consistent support from their families.

Another batch of Octogenarians and Nonagenarians received their cash gifts earlier today through the National Council on Senior Citizen (NCSC) assisted by the City Local Government of Baybay headed by CSWDO Manuel Icon P. Donaire.
