WATCH | The Provincial Government of Mountain Province, through its 'Tuloy and Serbisyo sa Barangay' initiative, continues to facilitate the distribution of fresh vegetables from the local farmers of Cadad-anan, Tadian, to barangays Maligcong and Dalican in Bontoc.

On separate occasions, personnel from the Provincial Government led by Executive Assistants Winston V. Calde and George B. Lumiwes delivered and distributed the vegetable shares of the residents of the two barangays on May 15, 2026.

On the same day, the team also delivered more vegetables at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology- Mountain Province and at the Sta. Rita de Cascia Parish in the capital town.

During the distribution, Dalican Punong Barangay Crispin Y. Chang-awen and Maligcong Punong Barangay Basilio S. Anengyao expressed their gratitude to the Provincial Government headed by Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. for hauling and distributing the vegetables and to local farmers of Sitio Am-am for their generosity. They said that the gifts are big help especially to households experiencing the effects of high commodity prices.

LOOK | Responders rescued a man after being buried by a rockslide along Sitio Dogo, Napua, Sabangan, around 6:00 a.m. today, 15 May 2026.

Per an interview with a witness, the victim attempted to save his motorcycle when the rockslide occurred at around 5:00 a.m. According to a community member, it rained hard in the said area yesterday.

With these, the Mountain Province DRRM Office / Council enjoins ALL MOTORISTS/ PASSERSBY TO EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHILE TRAVERSING ROADS, especially with the occasional thunderstorms that could cause slope erosion.

Also, all motorists traversing the Maba-ay - Sabangan โ€“ Bontoc Road are advised to take the alternate route, the Sabangan - Abatan, Bauko - Maba-ay route, until further notice from concerned entities.

To all motorists traversing the Maba-ay-Sabanganโ€“Bontoc Road, please be advised that a MASSIVE LANDSLIDE has occurred at Sitio Dogo, Napua, Sabangan, causing the road to become impassable.

Motorists are strongly advised to take the alternate route via Abatan, Bauko until clearing operations and safety assessments are completed.

Please exercise extra caution, avoid unnecessary travel in the affected area, and stay updated for further advisories.

Drive safely and prioritize your safety at all times.

DA conducts meeting with agriculture coordinators, aligns plans for 2026โ€“2027

Bontoc โ€“ The Department of Agriculture (DA) spearheaded a coordination meeting with agriculture provincial coordinators to align their programs, review results, and finalize future plans held at the Archog's Hotel and Restaurant, Samoki, Bontoc, on May 14, 2026.

This activity laid the groundwork for deeper planning, convergence, and the finalization of priorities for 2026 and 2027.

In his welcome remarks, Executive Assistant Rolando M. Bragado, on behalf of Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr., stressed that the meeting was perfectly timed to strengthen collaboration among all agencies, local government units, and stakeholders, hoping that the plans to be laid out would strengthen the support to farmers across the province.

During the meeting, participants from DA - Regional Field Office - CAR, DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-CAR, DA - Bureau of Plant Industry - CAR, DA - National Irrigation Administration - CAR, Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), and Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) reviewed the status of 2026 Proposed Programs and Activities (PPAs) and laid out the indicative plans for 2027, ensuring alignment with national policies and local needs.

Representatives from the Provincial Government, including the Offices of the Provincial Agricultural and Biosystems Engineer, Provincial Agriculturist, Provincial Veterinarian, and Provincial Planning and Development, also contributed to the discussion to ensure that local priorities were integrated into national programs.

The meeting was adjourned with a collective commitment from all agencies to work closely together, streamline services, and deliver timely, effective support to the provinceโ€™s farming and fishing communities, in pursuit of food security and improved livelihoods.
