September 17, 2026, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Agusan del Norte, in partnership with the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) of Agusan del Norte, conducted a Symposium on Crime Prevention and Youth Participation at the Barangay Covered Court, Poblacion 2, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

Held in celebration of the 32nd National Crime Prevention Week 2026, the activity highlighted the national theme, “Strengthening Civilian Oversight and Collective Action for Safer Communities,” and the youth-centered message, “Kabataan Para sa Ligtas na Pamayanan: Sama-samang Pag-iwas sa Krimen at Pagtataguyod ng Ligtas na Paaralan.”

The activity brought together Grade 6 learners of Buenavista Central Elementary School, who actively participated in the discussions and interactive activities on crime prevention, safety, responsible citizenship, and building peaceful communities.

A ceremonial oath-taking of school leaders as members of the Student Crime Prevention Committee (SCPC) was also conducted, affirming their commitment to promoting a safe and child-friendly school environment. The learners likewise took part in a commitment-setting activity, expressing their shared responsibility in helping prevent crime and promote safety in their school and community.

Through the initiative, DILG and PPOC strengthened the message that safer communities are built through collective action, with the youth playing an important role as partners in peace and crime prevention.

Working Together for Stronger, Safer Communities: ADAC SYNERGY 2026

To boost local governance and ensure top-tier audit readiness across Agusan del Norte, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Agusan del Norte successfully conducted ADAC SYNERGY 2026: Elevating Local Governance, Audit Readiness, and Reintegration. The activity was made possible through the steadfast support of Provincial Governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell Amante and brought together C/MADAC Focal Persons, POPSPCMS Encoders, IT Officers, C/MSWDOs, and DILG C/MLGOOs.

In her opening message, DILG Provincial Director Ellen Vee P. Chua captured the heart of the initiative: Synergy. Anti-drug abuse management is never a solo effort, it takes local officials, partner agencies, and communities working in unison to transform lives. She encouraged LGUs to stay proactive by conducting thorough self-assessments and verifying all documents on the ADAC FMS ahead of official audits.

Participants navigated a clear path to success: first organizing plans, budgets, and document uploads to establish rock-solid administrative integrity, then aligning data through hands-on mock audits to catch and fix compliance gaps well before official assessments. Finally, the activity turned policy into real human impact by grounding local efforts in DSWD’s Yakap Bayan Program, SDEC, and Balay Silangan, bridging community-based rehabilitation with compassionate aftercare to give recovering individuals a genuine second chance at life.

Beyond passing audits, we are building a safer, more resilient Agusan del Norte for every family!

SUSTAINING PEACE AND SECURITY IN AGUSAN DEL NORTE!

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Agusan del Norte, together with the Provincial Government of Agusan del Norte and the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), held the Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Partnership Agreement (MOPA) for the Sustenance of Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) in the Province of Agusan del Norte on September 17, 2026, at the Provincial Governor’s Office Conference Room, Capitol Compound, Butuan City.

This milestone event highlights the strong collaboration between local chief executives, law enforcement, military leaders, and partner agencies in keeping the province safe and resilient.

JUSTIN IIThe Municipality of Tubay took the lead in promoting meaningful people’s participation and accountable governance through the conduct of the Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP) Dagyaw 2026 on September 16, 2026.

The activity served as a platform for the local government, civil society organizations, community representatives, and other stakeholders to come together, share perspectives, raise concerns, and discuss ways to strengthen collaboration in addressing local issues and improving public service delivery.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Agusan del Norte, led by Provincial Director Ellen Vee P. Chua, supported the initiative by encouraging LGU Tubay to champion the principles of people’s participation, transparency, and accountability in local governance.

DILG emphasized that open government is strengthened when citizens are given meaningful opportunities to participate in conversations and processes that affect their communities.

Through the Dagyaw platform, LGU Tubay demonstrates its commitment to engaging its people and stakeholders as partners in building a more responsive, inclusive, and accountable local government.
