NIA-X Steps Up SPIP Implementation Ahead of El Niño

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The National Irrigation Administration-X (NIA-X), under the leadership of Acting Regional Manager Engr. Benitez K. Derogongan, through its Operations Section, convened a special NIA–Irrigators’ Association (IA)–Contractor Meeting to assess the latest physical and financial accomplishments of Solar-Powered Irrigation Projects (SPIPs).

The meeting addressed recurring issues raised during Federation Meetings, particularly bottlenecks affecting project implementation. Field conditions, responsibilities, and concrete catch-up measures, timelines, and commitments were also discussed.

Engineering and Operations Division Manager Engr. Antonio B. Gujeling emphasized the need to expedite the completion of SPIPs in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and quality standards.

“The timely completion of these projects is crucial to ensure reliable irrigation service to our farmer-beneficiaries, especially with the anticipated El Niño conditions,” Gujeling said.

The meeting aimed to strengthen coordination and secure firm commitments from contractors to complete the projects and make them operational for the farmers.
