Romblon National Institute of Technology (RNIT), together with Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) in the province of Romblon, participated in the online orientation on the Microcredential Program and Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) Writing spearheaded by the Qualification Standards Office (QSO) of TESDA. The activity featured discussions from Mr. Joseph Cyrus P. Santalisis and Mr. Rosendo R. Rafael, Senior TESD Specialists, who provided insights on the implementation of microcredentialing and the development of competency-based curricula aligned with industry standards and emerging workforce demands.
The participants were warmly welcomed by Atty. Glenn Niรฑo M. Sartillo, Director III and Provincial Director of TESDA Romblon, who emphasized the importance of strengthening curriculum development and advancing innovative learning pathways for learners and trainees. The orientation served as an opportunity for TVIs to enhance their understanding of flexible and industry-responsive education and training programs in support of quality technical vocational education and training in the province.

RNIT Strengthens Digital Security Through PNPKI Training
Faculty, staff, and trainees of the Trainers Methodology Level I program of Romblon National Institute of Technology (RNIT) enhanced their knowledge on secure digital transactions as they participated in the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) Orientation and Userโs Training conducted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) โ Romblon on May 12, 2026. The activity introduced participants to the use of digital certificates for secure document signing, verified online transactions, and safe access to government systems and services. Through hands-on demonstrations and practical discussions, participants learned how PNPKI protects online communications and ensures that digital documents are authentic and tamper-proof. This activity reflects RNITโs commitment to embracing secure digital technologies and supporting more efficient, reliable, and transparent public service.

Romblon National Institute of Technology (RNIT) welcomed officials from the Philippine Navy Naval Reserve Command, Headquarters Naval Reserve CenterโSouthern Luzon, for a courtesy visit to discuss the possible implementation of the Naval Reserve Officersโ Training Corps (NROTC) program at the institution. The delegation was headed by CAPT Aniceto P Medalla III PN(GSC), Commander of NRCen-SL, together with LCDR Je-Onald V Lotivio PN, Deputy Commander; F1CD Baltazar A Rivera Jr. PN, Training Staff; S2YN Ferdinand D Rodriguez PN, Training Staff; and SGT Myla Gan PN(M)(Res).
The visiting officers were warmly welcomed by Prenz Jumer B. Lota, Vocational Instruction Supervisor I, and April Joy P. Lota, Administrative Officer IV, on behalf of Vocational School Administrator II Anna Christina C. Martinez, MAEd. The meeting served as an initial step toward exploring collaboration between RNIT and the Philippine Navy to provide students with opportunities for leadership development, discipline, civic responsibility, and service to the nation through the NROTC program.

In its continuing commitment to deliver responsive and industry-driven Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Romblon conducted a series of benchmarking visits and partnership-building activities from May 5 to 8, 2026, with leading companies in Laguna and Metro Manila. The delegation was led by Atty. Glenn Niรฑo M. Sartillo, Director III and Provincial Director of the TESDA Romblon- Provincial Office, and was joined by Anna Christina C. Martinez, MAED, Vocational School Administrator II of the Romblon National Institute of Technology (RNIT); Joseph R. Coching, Acting Administrator of the Provincial Training Center (PTC)- Romblon; Felipe S. Gado, Assistant Professor IV and Automotive Trainer of RNIT; Engr. Nico C. Galisanao, Industry Coordinator of RNIT; and Zarah A. Faa, Partnership Focal Person of TESDA Romblon- PO.
The activity commenced with a visit to the Toyota Motor Philippines School of Technology (TMPTech) and Toyota Motor Philippines in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, as well as Hyundai Cainta, Isuzu Pasig, and Toyota Pasig for Automotive Servicing Program Qualifications. At Toyota Pasig, the delegation reconnected with former trainees who are now successfully employed in the automotive industry, highlighting the effectiveness of TESDA programs in producing competent and job-ready graduates. During these visits, the delegation toured the training and production facilities and discussed possible collaboration on Supervised Industry Learning (SIL), the Trainersโ Industry Immersion Program, employment opportunities for graduates, and curriculum enhancement aligned with current industry standards.
The benchmarking activities continued with visits to Daikin Philippines and CDO Foodsphere, Inc. for RAC Servicing and Food Processing Program Qualifications. At CDO Foodsphere, Inc., the group was warmly welcomed by Engr. Sonny G. Reyes, PME, Engineering and Maintenance Supervisor and a proud graduate of Alcantara National Trade School (ANTS) Batch 1991, while Daikin committed its support through the provision of specialized training tools and equipment, specifically Daikin air-conditioning units. Furthermore, the delegation engaged with Joe Kuan Food Corporation and CDO Foodsphere, Inc. for Food Processing, and Kingsford Hotel for Food and Beverage Services, Housekeeping, Bread and Pastry Production, Events Management, and Front Office Services. These engagements opened valuable opportunities for collaboration, strengthened industry linkages, and expanded training and employment pathways for TESDA learners and graduates.

The members of the TESDA Technology Institution Advisory Council officially took their oath and received their Certificates of Approval during the 10th Founding Anniversary celebration of ROMTTAC. The oath-taking ceremony was administered by Regional Director of TESDA MIMAROPA Baron Jose L. Lagran, marking another milestone in strengthening partnerships for quality technical education and skills development.

A total of 122 scholarship beneficiaries received their starter toolkits during the distribution ceremony held at the Romblon National Institute of Technology (RNIT) Covered Court on May 15, 2026, under the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP). The recipients included 24 graduates of Bread and Pastry Production NC II and 15 graduates of Plant Crops leading to Agricultural Crops Production NC II from RNIT; 38 graduates of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II from TASK, Inc.; and 20 graduates of Raise Organic Small Ruminants leading to Organic Agriculture Production NC II and 25 graduates of Driving NC II from the Provincial Training Center (PTC) Romblon.
The activity was graced by Atty. Glenn Niรฑo M. Sartillo, Director III and Provincial Director of TESDA Provincial Office Romblon; Anna Christina C. Martinez, MAEd, Vocational School Administrator II of RNIT; and Joseph R. Coching, Acting Administrator of PTC Romblon. In their messages, the officials encouraged the beneficiaries to maximize the use of their toolkits as they begin their livelihood ventures or pursue employment opportunities. Selected beneficiaries also shared their impressions and expressed heartfelt gratitude to TESDA for providing not only free skills training but also the tools they need to transform their newly acquired competencies into sustainable sources of income.

A meaningful day of gratitude and progress unfolded at Romblon National Institute of Technology (RNIT) on May 15, 2026, as Hon. Eleandro Jesus F. Madrona, Congressman of the Lone District of Romblon, personally led the turnover of information and audiovisual equipment to strengthen the operations of TESDA institutions in the province. Through his generous support, RNIT and the Provincial Training Center (PTC) Romblon each received a complete sound system and a Samsung 75-inch Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV. The TESDA Provincial Office Romblon also received five Epson EcoTank L520 printers with automatic document feeders and five UPS units with AVR to enhance office efficiency and service delivery.
The program was filled with heartfelt expressions of appreciation as employees and trainees creatively used the letters of Congressman Madronaโs name to describe the admirable qualities that define his leadership and commitment to public service. Trainees also presented personal notes of thanks as a symbol of their gratitude. Formal messages of acceptance were delivered by Atty. Glenn Niรฑo M. Sartillo, Director III and Provincial Director of TESDA Provincial Office Romblon; Anna Christina C. Martinez, MAEd, Vocational School Administrator II of RNIT; and Joseph R. Coching, Acting Administrator of PTC Romblon. Certificates of appreciation were likewise presented in recognition of Congressman Madronaโs generous support to technical vocational education and skills development in the province. In his message, Congressman Madrona reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting programs and initiatives that empower Romblomanons through education, technology, and skills training.
