The Site Working Group (SWG) Formation through Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation (F2C2) Program of the Department of Agriculture RFO-5 was held last July 9, 2024, at the RTDO Conference Hall, 2nd Floor, FOD Blg., DA RFO-5, San Agustin, Pili, Camarines Sur.
Twelve farmers of the Maymatan Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative; Mr. Edgar Israel, the LGU-Goa Municipal Corn Coordinator; Mr. Michael Jordan O. Roquid, the ACPC Program Management Officer; and Engr. Amabel M. Bombase, the Regional Corn and Cassava Program Coordinator and F2C2 TWG Member, and the F2C2 Staff participated in the Agro-Entrepreneurship Clustering Approach (AECA) activity.
The SWG formation is the first step in the AECA process. It starts with mobilizing local partner institutions and cluster leaders willing to provide foundational assistance to stimulate and aid the agro-enterprise development process with the farmers in the region. Mr. Armando R. Octeza, the resource person, presented an overview of agro-enterprise development for SWG. Also, the Regional Corn and Cassava Program Coordinator and F2C2 TWG Member, Engr. Amabel M. Bombase and OIC-RTD for Operations, Dr. Mary Grace DP. Rodriguez graced the activity.
DA-F2C2 incorporates the Agro-Enterprise Clustering Approach (AECA) to provide farmers access to a variety of support services needed to help them overcome financing, infrastructure, technological, and other constraints as they evolve from marketing as individual farmers to planning and collaborating as a commercial business entity. It is organized into eight steps, each has its own set of activities and resources to help farmers improve their farm management, prepare for market participation, and establish agro-enterprises or marketing businesses.
