There is something revealing about a person who celebrates another person’s downfall, especially when that person did nothing to deserve it.
It takes little character to find joy in someone else’s pain. True character is shown in how we respond to the misfortunes of others, particularly those who have done us no wrong.
Someone else’s failure does not make you greater, nor does their suffering make your own life more meaningful. If another person’s undeserved loss becomes your reason to celebrate, perhaps the problem was never their success, but your inability to be at peace with it.
Not every downfall is justice, and not every victory belongs to the deserving. Sometimes, good people suffer, and those who celebrate their suffering reveal more about themselves than they ever could about the person who fell.
Be careful of mistaking another person’s misfortune for your own triumph. The measure of a person is not how loudly they celebrate when someone falls, but whether they can remain decent when life gives them a reason not to be.
“Ayaw kalipay sa kapildihan sa uban, kay ang kinabuhi puno sa kalit nga pagbag-o. Ang kalisod nga ilang giagian karon, basin ikaw na pud ugma.”
I am very well aware of who is behind all the problems that my father is facing right now. I tell you right now, you will never be an option to me, not because you are not capable but because of your character.
