ILCDB VII HOLDS COMPUTER-EYES TRAINING FOR STUDENTS AND ADULTS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENT
The ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB) Region VII β Central Visayas, in partnership with Resources for the Blind, Inc. Cebu Branch, successfully conducted the Basic Computer-Eyes Training for Students and Adults with Visual Impairment on May 4β15, 2026, at the Digital Transformation Center (DTC) β Cebu in Cebu City.
The activity gathered students and adults with visual impairment who participated in hands-on sessions focused on developing basic computer skills and utilizing assistive technologies to support learning, communication, and digital accessibility.
With its continued digital inclusion initiatives, ILCDB Region VII β Central Visayas supports persons with disabilities through accessible technology, digital education, and inclusive digital opportunities.

The activity gathered interns under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) β Government Internship Program (GIP), who participated in the sessions to enhance their skills in creating visually engaging materials and maximizing Canvaβs design tools for communication, presentations, and digital content creation.
Through sustained capacity-building efforts, ILCDB Region VII β Central Visayas continues to encourage young learners to maximize technology for creativity, productivity, and positive community engagement.

ILCDB VII LEADS EFFORTS IN FACT-CHECKING ESSENTIALS IN THE AGE OF AI AT UCLM
The ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB) Region VII β Central Visayas mounted the Digital Citizenship Seminar focusing on Fact-Checking Essentials in the Age of AI on April 30, 2026, at the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM), Looc, Mandaue City, Cebu.
The seminar gathered college students from various programs under the UCLM Academic Scholarsβ League, who actively engaged in sessions designed to enhance their critical evaluation of information in digital spaces.
Key topics covered during the seminar included information disorder, practical use of basic search key operators for effective online research, and methods for identifying AI-generated content through provenance tools such as Google SynthID Detector and InVID-WeVerify-VeraAI.
The activity deepened participantsβ awareness of responsible information consumption and verification, equipping them with practical skills to navigate and assess content in an increasingly AI-driven information environment.
Consistent with its ongoing efforts, ILCDB Region VII remains committed to advancing digital literacy and promoting informed, responsible digital citizenship among the youth.

LOOK HERE: A highlight from the Para Sa Kabataan Online Forum on Childrenβs Rights in the Digital Environment, where we explored key insights from General Comment No. 25 (2021) in celebration of International Girls in ICT Day held last April 23, 2026. π»β¨
Ms. Johanna Marie Bajenting, Project Development Officer II from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region VII, emphasized that creating safer digital spaces is a shared responsibility.
She highlighted DICTβs mandate to provide safe internet access for allβensuring that no Filipino is left behind in ICTβand stressed the importance of building safer online environments for children, women, and communities as a whole.
She also underscored the role of parents in digital parenting, sharing that promoting digital literacy among adults is essential in helping children safely and responsibly navigate the online world.
