ICT ACADEMY VII ADVANCES DIGITALIZATION OF AGRI-FISHERY ENTERPRISES

The ICT Academy Region VII – Central Visayas participated in the 3rd Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation (F2C2) Program Regional Cluster Summit, organized by the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office VII (DA-RFO VII), held on October 6–8, 2026, at the Golden Prince Hotel and Suites, Cebu City.

On October 8, the Academy facilitated the session “Digitalizing Agri-Fishery Enterprise,” sharing practical strategies on e-commerce, digital marketing, and secure digital payments. The session highlighted how digital tools can help agri-fishery enterprises reach wider markets, strengthen their online presence, and conduct safer digital transactions.

In the course of initiatives of this kind, the ICT Academy Region VII – Central Visayas contributes to strengthening digital capabilities and advancing technology adoption among government partners and local enterprises.

ICT ACADEMY VII STRENGTHENS DIGITAL CAPACITIES OF TECH4ED-DTC PARTNER CENTER MANAGERS IN CEBU

The ICT Academy Region VII – Central Visayas conducted the two-day Tech4ED-DTC Partner Center Managers’ Training on October 5–6, 2026, at the Digital Transformation Center (DTC) Subangdaku, Mandaue City, Cebu, bringing together Tech4ED-DTC Partner Center Managers from different areas across the province.

The training featured key topics including Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Hygiene Awareness, Google Workspace Fundamentals, and Cisco Networking Academy, providing participants with practical knowledge and skills that they can apply and share in their respective communities.

The activity aimed to further capacitate Tech4ED-DTC Partner Center Managers as trainers and facilitators of digital skills and literacy programs, enabling them to cascade their learning and conduct digital capacity-building sessions for community members through their respective Tech4ED-DTC Partner Centers.

Through initiatives such as this, ICT Academy Region VII – Central Visayas continues to build the capacity of community-based digital learning facilitators and support wider access to relevant digital knowledge and skills among communities in Cebu.

ICT ACADEMY VII BUILDS RESPONSIBLE AI CAPACITY AMONG OWWA RWO VII PERSONNEL

The ICT Academy Region VII - Central Visayas successfully conducted the Responsible and Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Government Service training as part of the Staff Development Activity of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration – Regional Welfare Office VII (OWWA RWO VII) on October 2, 2026, at Solea Mactan Resort, Brgy. Alegria, Cordova, Cebu.

The training focused on the fundamental principles and practical considerations surrounding the use of AI in the government workplace. Participants gained insights into responsible AI practices, ethical considerations, data privacy, and the importance of human oversight when utilizing AI tools to support government functions and services.

In the ex*****on of programs of this nature, ICT Academy Region VII continues to support government agencies and their personnel in harnessing emerging technologies effectively and ethically.

ICT ACADEMY VII BRINGS DIGITAL DESIGN SKILLS TO BISU CANDIJAY’S HARPOONER EDITORIAL TEAM

The ICT Academy Region VII - Central Visayas successfully conducted the Magazine Making Using CANVA training for the Harpooner Editorial Team, the official school publication of Bohol Island State University (BISU) – Candijay Campus, on October 1, 2026. The activity aimed to develop participants’ digital design skills and enhance their capacity to create engaging and visually appealing publication materials.

The training focused on using Canva for magazine layout and design, covering practical techniques in visual composition, page arrangement, and digital content creation. Through hands-on activities, the editorial team gained practical skills that can support the development of creative and professional school publication materials.

Through relevant digital skills development initiatives, ICT Academy Region VII continues to support students and academic communities in harnessing technology for creativity, communication, and learning. By providing accessible and practical digital training, ICT Academy Region 7 contributes to building a more digitally capable and creative generation.

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 12254, or the E-Governance Act, the Department of Information and Communications Technology is reorganizing and restructuring the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB) into the ICT Academy.

As the government’s central institution for ICT education, workforce upskilling, and E-Governance competency development, the ICT Academy will strengthen efforts to deliver quality ICT education and develop globally competitive digital skills among Filipinos.

This transition marks an expanded role and strengthened commitment to making ICT learning, skills development, and digital opportunities more accessible across the country.

ILCDB VII CATALYZES DATA-DRIVEN WORKPLACE SKILLS THROUGH TRAINING FOR SFI EMPLOYEES

The ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB) Region VII – Central Visayas, in partnership with Sunpride Foods, Inc. (SFI), conducted the Data Visualization via Spreadsheet Training for SFI employees on September 24–25, 2026.

The two-day training provided participants with hands-on learning opportunities on the use of spreadsheets for data organization, analysis, and visualization. Through practical exercises and guided activities, participants gained valuable skills in presenting data effectively to support workplace productivity, informed decision-making, and efficient communication of information.

As part of these capacity-building endeavors, the training further promotes digital skills development and strengthens the digital competencies of employees through relevant and practical technology-based learning initiatives.

ILCDB VII ENGAGES 500+ STRONG FUTURE TOURISM PROFESSIONALS ON DIGITAL AGENDA AND AI

The ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB) Region VII – Central Visayas engaged more than 500 future tourism professionals through the talk “Who Tells the Story? Digital Agenda, Artificial Intelligence & the Future of Tourism,” held during the Tourism Symposium in celebration of World Tourism Day 2026 on September 28, 2026, at the Panglao Cultural Center, Municipality of Panglao, Bohol.

Held under the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” the symposium provided a platform for future tourism professionals to explore emerging technologies and their growing influence on the tourism industry.

The talk examined the evolving role of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in shaping how tourism stories are created, communicated, and experienced. It also highlighted the importance of developing digital competencies and embracing responsible technology use as future tourism professionals prepare for an increasingly technology-driven industry.

Through its engagement with the next generation of tourism professionals, ILCDB Region VII – Central Visayas continues to promote digital literacy, innovation, and the meaningful adoption of emerging technologies in support of a digitally capable and future-ready tourism sector.
