The Oplan Pakigsandurot Capacity Building was held on June 3, 2026, at the 9th Floor Executive Building, featuring a series of training sessions and discussions aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness, public safety awareness, and disaster response capabilities among community personnel.

The activity brought together barangay captains, barangay tanods, and other community personnel who participated in lectures and practical demonstrations designed to help them better respond to emergencies and security-related incidents within their respective communities.

Representatives from key government agencies also delivered messages of support, including PMAJ Marvin Fegarido, Officer-in-Charge of the City Community Affairs Development Unit, and DILG Cebu City Director Ms. Jonah V. Pino, MPA, CESO V. Their messages highlighted the value of partnership and continuous learning in addressing public safety concerns and community challenges.

Further reinforcing the programโ€™s objectives, PLTCOL Miguel Andeza, Deputy City Director for Operations, emphasized the role of coordinated efforts among local government units, law enforcement agencies, and community leaders in maintaining peace and order.

One of the key components of the program was the Emergency Readiness and Basic Life Support Training conducted by the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO), Administrative Assistant V Rolito Gerald B. Flordelis served as resource speakers, providing participants with essential knowledge and skills in responding to emergency situations and administering immediate assistance when needed.

The program also featured a session on Bomb Threat and Bomb Identification, where participants learned how to recognize potential security threats and the proper procedures for reporting and responding to suspicious situations. In addition, members of the Cebu City Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team conducted a demonstration on Proper Handcuffing and Restraint Techniques, giving participants practical insights into appropriate restraint procedures.

Government officials and representatives from partner agencies attended the activity in support of the initiative. Vice Mayor Thomas Osmeรฑa also delivered a message, encouraging participants to apply the knowledge gained from the training to strengthen community preparedness and resilience to the participants during the event.

The activity concluded with the awarding of certificates to participants in recognition of their completion of the training sessions. Closing remarks were delivered by Hon. Paul Labra, who acknowledged the efforts of the organizers and participants in making the program successful.

The Oplan Pakigsandurot Capacity Building reflects the continuing commitment of local government and partner agencies to promote preparedness, safety awareness, and community involvement through capacity-building initiatives and public safety education.

The Cebu City Government, through the Office of the Mayor and the City Hospitalization Assistance and Medicines Program (CHAMP), will hold the โ€œGIFT OF SIGHT: LIBRE NGA CATARACT SURGICAL CHARITY EVENTโ€ for residents of Cebu City experiencing eyesight problems on June 5, 2026 at the 4th Floor, Social Hall, Legislative Building, Cebu City Hall.

The GRAND ASSESSMENT DAY of the event will evaluate the state of an individualโ€™s eyes to determine if cataract is present, causing impairment.

Approval for cataract surgery will depend on a personโ€™s medical and socioeconomic evaluation. Approved residents will be able to receive free operation, intraocular lens, and assistance with medication and medical supplies.

Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. Residents who arrive on the day of the event will have to bring:

Alongside the Office of the Mayor and CHAMP, the event also partnered with the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, ACES Eye Referral Clinics, Charity Vision, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to provide better service to the people.

The two-day expo aims to highlight Cebuโ€™s diverse wedding offerings, from picturesque island venues and historic churches to world-class event suppliers and services that continue to attract couples from across the country and abroad.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet trusted wedding professionals, explore a wide range of wedding products and services, and take advantage of exclusive offers from participating exhibitors. The Regional Development Council (RDC) Central Visayas Environment Committee convened its Second Quarter 2026 Meeting and Learning Session on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) at the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) Conference Hall in Cebu City on June 3, 2026.

Anchored on the theme โ€œStrengthening Ecosystem Resilience,โ€ the meeting brought together committee members, government agencies, and environmental stakeholders to discuss regional environmental concerns, policy directions, and priority actions for the coming years.

The meeting was presided over by Environment Committee Chairperson Aurelio S. Salgados Jr., who delivered the chairpersonโ€™s welcome remarks and led discussions on the committeeโ€™s agenda, previous meeting resolutions, and priority initiatives. The host agency's opening remarks were delivered by GM Atty. John DX Lapid of MCWD.

Committee Secretary Mariolito M. Bonggot presented updates on the status of Environment Committee resolutions and agreements, while Cornelio B. Guantero of the Environment Committee Secretariat discussed the environmental sector chapters of the 2025 Central Visayas Regional Development Report.

Among the major agenda items were the presentation of the Updated Environment Committee Priority Action Agenda 2025โ€“2028 and discussions on the Proposed Environment Committee Mandate, both aimed at strengthening environmental governance and advancing sustainable development goals across the region.

For the information segment, DENR-7 Regional Executive Director Laudemir S. Salac presented a report on the status of Solid Waste Management (SWM) in Central Visayas and the actions being undertaken to address major waste management concerns. Meanwhile, representatives from the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB)-7 reported on the regionโ€™s water and air quality status for the second quarter of 2026.

The afternoon learning session focused on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), an essential tool in ensuring environmentally sound development. EMB-7 led the discussion on the legal basis of EIA, while Engr. Andres M. Muego, EnP, presented the processes involved in Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), highlighting their role in integrating environmental considerations into development planning and decision-making.

The meeting ended with an open forum where stakeholders discussed key environmental concerns and proposed actions to strengthen environmental programs across Central Visayas. In his closing remarks, DENR-7 Regional Executive Director Laudemir S. Salac urged continued collaboration among government agencies and partners to advance sustainable development and ecosystem resilience in the region.
