PCUP Visayas Commissioner Atty. Bret B. Monsanto joined Chairperson Usec. Michelle Anne "Che-Che" B. Gonzales and Gov. Ronald Aguto Jr. of Batanes in a productive meeting aimed at expanding programs for the urban poor sector.

Key discussions focused on livelihood opportunities, housing policy improvements, and community accreditation to ensure access to government trainings and development programs.

This initiative reflects PCUP’s continued commitment to working with local governments in creating inclusive opportunities and improving the lives of urban poor families.

𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 𝗣𝗖𝗨𝗣, 𝗖𝗖𝗖𝗜, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗞𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗦 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱

A significant step toward inclusive development is underway as Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP Visayas) Commissioner Atty. Bret Monsanto led an introductory dialogue with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) to establish a strategic partnership with SKILLS Primary Structures Educational Foundation, Inc..

The collaboration aims to provide scholarship grants and industry-aligned technical-vocational training for qualified urban poor beneficiaries. Present during the meeting was CCCI President 𝗠𝗿. 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘅 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴, alongside CCCI’s board and officers, as well as 𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗲 𝗖𝘂𝗯𝗶𝗷𝗮𝗻𝗼, PSEFI Skills Executive Director. A Memorandum of Understanding is set to be signed to formalize the partnership.

At the core of the initiative is a clear and collaborative process: 𝗣𝗖𝗨𝗣 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 from urban poor communities; 𝗦𝗞𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗦 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽-𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹-𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀; and upon completion, 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗖𝗖𝗜 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.

Commissioner Monsanto underscored that this initiative embodies PCUP’s mission to uplift lives by ensuring that opportunities are not only accessible but also sustainable. By directly linking beneficiary selection, skills training, and job placement, the program creates a seamless bridge from learning to livelihood.

The ongoing activity is spearheaded by PCUP Visayas Commissioner Atty. Bret B. Monsanto, under the leadership of PCUP Chairman and CEO Usec. Michelle Anne "Che-Che" B. Gonzales with the support of PCUP Field Operations Division (FOD) Visayas Chief of Operations Chloe T. Manlosa-Osano.

The meeting focused on strengthening PCUP’s mandate on demolition and eviction concerns, as well as enhancing the delivery of essential social services. Updates and recommendations were also presented on long-pending presidential proclamations for legitimate residents.

The engagement underscores PCUP’s continued efforts to work with national agencies in advancing responsive and inclusive programs for the urban poor sector.

PCUP Visayas Commissioner Atty. Bret B. Monsanto paid a courtesy visit to Governor Erico Aris Aumentado to discuss programs and initiatives for the urban poor sector in Province of Bohol.

Commissioner Monsanto was joined by PCUP Visayas Bohol Area Coordinator Engr. Amabelle Canlas. During the visit, where they exchanged updates and discussed ways to further support urban poor initiatives in the province.

The visit reflects the continued commitment of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor to work closely with local government leaders in advancing inclusive development and addressing the concerns of urban poor communities across the Visayas.

Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) Commissioner for the Visayas (PCUP Visayas) Commissioner Atty. Bret B. Monsanto, met with officials of Primary Structures Educational Foundation, Inc. (SKILLS) to discuss a forthcoming Public-Pricate Partnership aimed at providing scholarships and technical-vocational training opportunities for the urban poor.

𝗦𝗞𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗦 (𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿, 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲) is a Cebu-based educational foundation that offers industry-based technical and vocational training programs designed to prepare Filipinos for employment in construction, hospitality, maritime, and other skilled professions.

Both parties are set to push the partnership forward in the coming months, with plans to soon sign a 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗠𝗢𝗨) to formalize their collaboration in expanding access to skills development programs for underserved communities.

Commissioner Monsanto expressed full support for initiatives that help urban poor communities ALPAS—uplifting their lives through skills, training, and employment opportunities.
