Light the Legacy: A Night of Remembrance and Action in Cebu City 🕯️

Today, the Cebu City Health Department stood in solidarity with the global community for the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2026.

Under this year’s powerful theme, "Light the Legacy: Remember, Advance, Act," we gathered not only to honor the lives of those we have lost to AIDS-related illnesses but also to renew our unwavering commitment to those living with HIV (PLHIV).

Why We Gather

The Candlelight Memorial is one of the world’s oldest and largest grassroots mobilization campaigns for HIV awareness. Today’s event at the City Health Department served as a sanctuary for:

🕯️ Remembrance: Honoring our friends, family, and community members whose legacies continue to inspire our advocacy.
🤝 Solidarity: Breaking the silence and the stigma that often surrounds the diagnosis.
📢 Action: Strengthening our resolve to provide accessible testing, treatment, and compassionate care for every Cebuano.

Our Collective Promise

HIV is no longer a death sentence, but the stigma remains a barrier to life-saving care. Today’s ceremony reminded us that awareness must lead to action. By lighting these candles, we signify our dedication to a future where:
