TODAY โ Authorities conducted a surprise drug testing operation on public transport drivers Wednesday, April 1, as part of heightened road safety measures for the Holy Week travel rush.
The random testing, carried out at around 1:00 p.m., was held at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT).
The initiative, dubbed โOplan Harabas,โ was led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region XI (PDEA), in coordination with the Land Transportation Office Region XI (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and Department of Transportation-Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTr-SAICT). The activity targeted hundreds of bus and van drivers operating within the City.
The operation aims to ensure that drivers of public utility vehicles are free from the influence of illegal drugs, particularly as passenger volume is expected to surge during the observance of Holy Week.
The surprise drug testing is part of the continued enforcement of transport safety measures to help protect commuters and maintain public order during the holiday season.
